Best professor for orgo. Very fair tests and grading. You get the grade you earn! You will have to try hard but your work will pay off. He gives crazy curves which is great. Be prepared to read and do the homework but if you try its an easy A. You can't expect to not try in an orgo II class but this will be the easiest A you can get for the class.

Miles is the worst professor I have taken at UCF. His lectures are all over the place and never focused. He barely discusses topics and does examples halfway (if he does any). Lowest test replaced by final exam. Forces you to read book by giving quizzes on homework problems. Try to take anyone else if you want to pass

TOUGH class, but Miles was a great teacher. He was always willing to help and gave motivational speeches. Quizzes are straight out of the HW, so make sure you do it. His exams were hard but fair. Read the book and teach yourself everything, lectures are more supplemental in my opinion. STUDY for the ACS and you'll pass it.

Miles is a great person and very inspiring, but as a professor I didn't really enjoy his teaching style. Orgo is an extremely difficult subject and I found his explanations confusing and a bit academic; I found myself teaching myself the material most of the time. Go to his office hours, do the hw, and READ THE TEXTBOOK! It's what saved my grade.

If you plan on teaching yourself organic chemistry, Miles is your man. I did all of the homework and did well on the quizzes since they are verbatim from h.w but exams are killer. My best friend is in pharmacy school, looked at his exams and agreed they are brutal. He doesn't give belong practice and spends too much class time giving life advice.

Loved Dr. Miles as a professor, doing the (not mandatory) homework is very very helpful and all quizzes and 10 points of every test is 100% directly from the homework, I would suggest doing it at least 3 times to memorize and understand the answers. The tests are tough but this is a VERY fair class and he tests on what he teaches. Cares a lot!

You teach YOURSELF everything. I made an A in both classes by studying assigned homework problems. I never took notes in class, because I always read the book and took note. I only recommend going to class for his handouts because they show up on test. His organic 2 exams are long, so pace yourself or you will not finish like 50% of my class did.

He truly cares so much about his students. He is hard, but he is fair. Before each test he gives out practice exams that he gave in the past to study from. And usually the same type questions will be on the test. He gives out quizzes which are the exact problems from the book. I would not take him for orgo 2 if you did not have him for orgo 1

Hard, but very good professor. Learned a lot. Go to his reviews! Reach chapters and do homework weekend before. Don't mess up on quizzes--count as part of your test grade. Study ALL reactions once a week. I suggest doing homework multiple times; helps with test and quizzes. Go to his office hours, ask questions and get to know him, he's awesome!

a bit tough, but just wants to see you succeed. If you're struggling go to office hours and he'll be happy to help. Gives weekly ch quizzes that are directly from the homework and writes ch summarys to simplify the text. Go to class, go to reviews & read the text. Had him for Orgo 1&2, but 2 will be hard w him if you didn't take him for 1

Miles is really nice and works really hard to see students succeed. If you work hard, read the book, and UNDERSTAND the material, you will pass. Lectures and his extra help sessions are practically mandatory, because he gives test advice during these times. Tests and quizzes are returned during the next class period.

This is not an easy class, but when is organic chem ever? Miles makes the class interesting and links it to the real world. He does, however, "preach" to the class a little too much sometimes instead of teaching. My suggestions: read the chapters the weekend before, do all the problems in the textbook (quizzes straight from HW), go to his reviews!

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about this class. Students should know going into this class that it will be difficult, however, if you put in the time, you should get an A no problem. I put in 2-3 hours a day for this class. time flies when working on the problems, though.

I liked Miles for Orgo I, but I didn't like him for Orgo II. He was extremely rude to me, and I saw his true colors. We had a falling out, and he probably would have failed me if I hadn't absolutely murdered the final and made it impossible. Just stay on his good side, and you'll be better off. His grading is otherwise difficult but fair. READ!

Tough professor! He expects you to know EVERYTHING in the chapters for his exams. He gives weekly quizzes off the homework problems. Tests are tough but doable if you understand every concept in the chapter. Not an easy A but it is doable!

His tests are extremely difficult. You have to work out every single problem in the book and know how to apply what you know to the brand new problems on tests. There are four tests and one cumulative final. The fourth test has no multiple choice. He drops one test and replaces it with the final. Quizzes every week that go towards exam grade.

YOU MUST DO THE HOMEWORK AND READ. These 2 things are essential to an A in his class; I would recommend going to his lectures because he has specific ways he wants you to do things and he'll give handouts. If you go to his help sessions and he learns your name, you are golden. I didn't think the course was hard, just time consuming.

You basically have to teach yourself everything and just READ READ READ. His test aren't the hardest but they require effort. Going to class I didn't really learn anything he just reads off power points but when he gives out worksheets stay to get the answers. Was an okay professor. Taking him for Orgo 2.
