Very difficult class but simply wants students to learn from it, regardless of grades. Actually very interesting material if you're into structural engineering (which you should be). Took us out for lunch at the end of semester, genuily great guy. Shame to see the bashing on him here.

you will want to bash your against a wall before, during, and after a class with him. he can't explain anything properly. its not an issue of his thick accent even, its the fact that he just goes on scribbling and deriving equations that make no sense. he can't answer or even understand questions. McGill woooo!

If you don't understand statics, don't even go to class. If you understand the fundamentals it's not bad. Although he really and i mean REALLY doesn't understand questions very well, ASK VERY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS if you do at all. Weekly assignments that took 4-6 hours to do and the TA grading didn't do a good job either way. Welcome to McGrill.

I liked statics, so maybe that's why i liked shrivastava. i though he was an interesting man, and making the class and tests so hard really forced me to learn statics, and has prepared me for all the rest of my civil classes. plus, if you ever go talk to him in office hours, he's a very interesting man!
