Davis was one of the most intelligent, cogent, and dedicated teachers I ever had. Too bad so many students don't really care to learn and are crybabies, imo, who look to blame a prof for their unwillingness and ignorance. Do you want a good grade just for paying tuition without any deep thinking about history? Grow up.

Dr. Davis is a really nice guy. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. That being said, he's tough, but fair. I wouldn't plan on taking any of his classes if you think you are going to get an easy A. Expect to work and think outside of the box.

Comment:
I have taken several of Dr. Davis' undergrad courses. While I found the material interesting and his policies fair, I felt that there was often too much emphasis on far-leftist historians' work, and too little on primary sources and sound historiography. I feel that this is a disservice to undergrads. -BA History, 2001

He is fairly interesting but most of the time he is down right boring. Papers are required in this class and he is a fairly hard grader on papers and a moderately fair grader on exams. There is a presentation that is required. This class is mostly learning about how to analyse articles and write research papers.

His classes are so boring. You just sit and he lectures the entire class. And you need to buy 4 books, which is not cool.

He presents the subject in a very dry, textbook style manner, but he really knows his stuff and is a pretty fair grader. Class time is boring, but not entirely insufferable.

He lectures for the entire class, so it's really boring. his class involves 3 tests, and 2 quizzes between each test. he's sometimes a tough grader, but then again, i got an 8 out of 10 when i didn't even do the reading. the tests are all essays. he's very knowledgeable-he really knows the material.

One of the easiest teachers ever. Your test are 2 out of 3 essay & very, very broad. Class is a little boring, but you don't have to show up that often b/c he doesn't know anyone & covers the same material for a while. Very helpful when needed. Papers are a breeze & you get to re-write most of them.

He's a really nice guy, but not the professor to take if you're just looking to fill a requirement. His style is probably great for history majors, but for the rest of us his classes seemed to really drag along. Like I said though.... really nice guy.

If you like history and are interested in it at all, you won't find him boring. Great class and not overwhelmingly work, very managable. I liked him a lot. He goes over the material so you really understand it, and exams are based on it so you can do really well.

Big waste of time! The class sounds interesting in the course book, but it's not; Not with Davis. He talks the ENTIRE 50 mins. It's all the same material just phrased differently according to the different time period. Awful professor
