Dr. Peebles is best freshman chemistry teacher at EIU. Class is not mandatory but you MUST go to class if you want to succeed. You will do good on the exams if you put the work in for them. You will not be handed an A, but if you take good notes and visit office hours, it will be hard not to get an A. His Australian accent makes him even better

He's a great professor! If you don't get math, you really gotta buckle down and practice practice practice the concepts. He's a great guy and grades fairly. He's willing to help as much as he can and almost always available. I wouldn't recommend skipping his class though. Would definitely take his class again! Not to mention he is actually funny!

This guy is a great teacher. There's no two ways about it. He cares about his students and cares about helping his students succeed. His lectures are thorough and easy to follow. He teaches the material in an easy-to-understand manner. Combine that with his Australian accent and great sense of humor, being in his class is fun. Tests are easy.

Best chemistry teacher I've had at Eastern thus far. He's very helpful and has review sessions weekly over the things covered in class. Tests are pretty easy if you do the study guide. Class is interesting and boring at times but he is very helpful.

Spoon-feeds the information to you in class. Homework will prepare you for the tests, which are very fair and so easy. If you read the book, you don't really have to go to class. He is super nice, offers extra credit, and always available for questions.

By far one of the best teachers I've had at EIU. I've had him for lec&lab and was never disappointed. You can go to him any time (except when he's in class) to ask questions and he's always very patient. His tests are kinda hard so you need to study also you should go to his study sessions. If you put in the effort, he'll do anything for you!

Dr. Peebles is an excellent professor. If you are looking into taking General Chemistry (I or II), you absolutely must take him. He was extremely clear with the material covered in class and was also very helpful. If you truly make an attempt an understanding the material he is teaching, you will succeed.

He was just an awesome teacher. He just knew how to make you understand pretty much everything. I got an A in his class. When I took his class he even cut the homework in half so that people could have enough time to do it. He was just an awesome teacher. He was just awesome.

Had both him and his wife for lab & lecture. He was great. Really funny and nice. He was pretty helpful when it came to lab. One great thing about him: he discusses lab IN GREAT DETAIL before you do it, so even if you didn't read, you're not confused. Does weekly quizzes though, so grade is half lab, half quizzes.

I had him for lab. He is a very nice guy, very understandable. Sometimes he can give you some attitude. He helps you out big time when you have questions. Quizzes and pre-lab are difficult, and the labs can be pretty challenging.

Very thorough but copies nearly direct from the book. Tests are moderate and he rarely cancels class. His accent and vocabulary are comical too! Overall I'd take him again because there isn't anything too bad about him

He was a good teacher! He helps students a lot, and he's really nice. He seems like he can't get comforatble with students, but that's because he's shy. If students try, they can get good help from him.
