Took the summer version. Awesome professor. Knows a lot and communicates clearly. Four homeworks and two take home midterms. He almost solves everything in class ! I learned so much.

No exams, grade entirely determined by 8 homeworks. Some were difficult but he would spend entire class periods answering questions and trying to get us to understand the material, which made attendance essential. He was lax and let us colab with as many people as we wanted. Funny and intelligent, cares for students. Code and math heavy class

This is the RISC class. Uses the typical Patterson and Hennessy book. Four homeworks and two take home exams. Professor distributes transparencies (no need to take notes). Spends lots of time explaining assignments and exams. Does not provide solutions, but with all the discussions and explanations, assignments and exams should be a breeze.

He taught this class this one time and will not teach it again. The other professor was on sabbatical. His lectures were engaging and interesting. I did not miss a single one. He is knowledgeable and knows how to keep us interested and attentive. Graded on the basis of 8 assignments only. Reasonable amount of work for a fair grade.

Probably the best professor in ICS at UCI. Helpful and accessible. Makes you work but will not let you fail. Will help you personally if you fall behind. Compassionate. A fantastic human being.

In my opinion, Dr. Scherson is an incredible professor. He really loves what he does. He is not interested in making you suffer or fail, but in leaving something in you. He said, "Let's have fun in this class, and if it is possible, we will learn something". I definitely recommend his classes.

If you want an easy and fast A, take CS-152, and probably any class with him. The homeworks are explained in class, the exam is a take-home with a lot of time. I love it! The classes are fun, you can skip them without any problem, but honestly, you will enjoy attending. Also, if you need to talk to him, he is usually available very soon.

The homework assignments for this class started off pretty easy, but it got super hard after the 3rd homework. There's a Piazza for this class, but the TA is the worse TA that I've ever had in my life. He barely answers any questions and he's super arrogant. I hate that TA so much.

Great professor. Reachable, helpful, and explains each concepts clearly. The course covers the basics of RISC processor. After the quarter, you will clearly understand how the single processor is working. The course consists of two take-home exams and 4 HWs. He goes over exams and HWs during class, so it's very easy.

Great professor. He wants students to understand the fundamental concepts. I really like how he draws circuits on the board and approaches the problem step by step. Exams are open "everything"(even laptops). The problems aren't tricky. But they all require you to understand what's going on. I didn't miss a single lecture, his jokes are hilarious.

Easily one of the best professors at UC Irvine. Prof Scherson is incredibly intelligent and he will randomly go on tangents during lectures to teach you a fun little fact. He really cares about his students and he will pick on everyone to make sure they learn the topics well. The homeworks are long but incredibly useful. Easy class as well.

My god. This is the best teacher I've taken in my history at UCI and is better than any professor I remember. He inspires your passions about system architecture, explains detailed complex systems clearly and easily, makes the class IMPOSSIBLE to fail if you show up and try hard (he says at the beginning of class he doesn't fail anyone). Best ever.

He is difficult and his class does demand a lot of time spent. However, you learn a lot if you pay attention. Plus his usually gives his finals the week before finals week.

You can tell Scherson really enjoys the subjects he teaches. He's got a dry, but funny sense of humor and tries to make lectures interesting. Homeworks are a killer, but if you go to lecture, you'll be fine on the midterm and final. His explanations are sometimes vague, and his ramblings sometimes more interesting, but overall, highly recommended!

His teaching method usually involves getting students to prepare ahead of class and then have a big ol' class discussion. He's not shy about drawing students out of their shells; and students in turn respond very well. An outstanding teacher and researcher who is enthusiastic and encouraging about hearing student's ideas. Does "amble" quite a bit w

Lecs are well paced and covers a fair amt of material, he makes opportunities for questions tho he may be intimidating, but he knows that. Hw require 4+ hrs each, 4 total, forces you to learn material not fully covered in lec/dis, but beneficial. midterm/final fair and reflects hw, so fair. Lecs are interesting, material is hard to fit in 1 quarter

Time consuming assignments. Doesn't go over answers for assignments or exams. Has interesting things to say, but tends to go off on tangents and make stupid jokes which aren't even funny half the time. Spent at least 2 weeks in the quarter out of the state. Go to discussion.

I dunno what type of humor you people have, but his jokes are NOT funny. He doesn't teach a thing. He always goes off on tangents that make me lose interest. Homeworks are RIDICULOUSLY time consuming. Terrrriiibblle teacher.
