Lectures are nearly useless as she only goes over the most basic of concepts over and over and then spends a few minutes talking about important topics. Never goes over homework or releases solutions. Was 10 minutes late to final with poorly formatted exam. Avoid if you can.

Terrible professor! You should definitely avoid taking her for 51. She is a nice person but she cannot teach. Examples in class were copied straight off the book and did not cover important parts of the course. Exams are worse, based on questions not covered in class. She is hard to reach, confusing with homework and was 15 min late to the final!

She has good intentions, but she's a really bad teacher. Her examples are superficial and don't effectively cover the important topics. The class is structured where an hour long discussion a week is supposed to be sufficient to complete a lab in x86 assembly. She pretty much avoids answering students' questions on Piazza and should be avoided!

She's an awful professor and she's completely unhelpful. If you can take a different professor for this class, try to.

Pretty laid back. As long as you pay attention in lecture and follow along you should understand the concepts. Midterms/finals okay since allowed cheatsheets. Very nice and interacts with students regularly. Seems like she genuinely wants to help students learn. Prettiness is almost distracting during lecture. Reminds me of Cameron Diaz's cousin.

S. Tauro is better with CS141, 142 than with any other courses. She's very clear in explaining compiler. Projects are intense, quizzes are very helpful for the tests.

She is not a good professor. I did a lot of hard work but she failed me because I got some help on one of my papers and she called it cheating. Awful person. I followed up with the problem and when she did not have any prove, she said anyway, your grade for the class is an F and she failed me that simple. I have never seen such a ..professor ever.

The material was tough, but her lectures were extremely helpful. Don't skip discussion or you'll impale yourself on a spike when it comes to the projects. Office hours help a LOT so go when you can. She will help you out if you're not lazy and try.

Good teacher, wants you to learn but material is hard. Projects get hard after the second one. Gives quizzes randomly worth 1 or 2 points. If you're lazy don't take her.

Took this class in the summer..was not easier unfortunately. Gave us quizzes based on information we were introduced to only a few minutes before. After the 1st 2 projects, it gets somewhat hard. Does not provide much info/help with using languages like Haskell, Prolog, and Perl. Tests were alright, you get a cheat sheet for both final and midterm.

Whoever says this woman is attractive needs to go outside more. Her class is insanely difficult for a subject you will never use again. Her style of teaching is pure ****. Quizzes you on subjects she has shown for maybe 5 minutes. Programming is on par with (literally) a project course. Can have tons of hw. Help is limited or none. Don't take her.

I've had her for CS 51, 141a and 142a. I think Tauro is an excellent and fair professor, and most of the hate on here comes from people who are frustrated with the difficulty of the material and looking for someone to blame. I'll admit I felt like this at first, then I got my act together. CS isn't an easy major, deal with it.

Taken her for 3 classes previously (hated it). Surprisingly, CS142a wasn't bad at all. Supplied test cases for the projects makes debugging easy. Book isn't needed. Quizzes help keep you on track, and aren't worth much. Attendance is crucial. Midterms not that bad (get cheat sheets =]) and no final.
