Comment:

Took him for the 12 week session over the summer. He is very transparent about what to know for quizzes and exams. Quizzes were usually once or twice a week. He knows what students might get tripped up on and takes his time to explain and show details. Uses course reserves and brings in printouts. He made an often dreaded class enjoyable.

Comment:

Professor has been teaching at Toledo for 55+ years. Great guy with a lot of knowledge. Only set back is that if you ask a question in class, he seems like he gets mad at you for it. Overall a great guy with a lot of knowledge and he knows the material like the back of his hand. Willing to help in office hours.

Stein is undoubtedly a wizard and knows what he's talking about. He is super helpful if you actually put in the effort to ask for help one-on-one. Will make you seem like an idiot in front of class when you ask questions though. ALWAYS has office hours. Tests/quizzes a lot like old ones. Uses Course Reserves.

best math professor I've ever had. His responses are thorough and easily understood. He goes out of his way to prepare you for the tests by spending his own money printing out previous tests and detailed solutions. Be sure to mimic the way her gives solutions to previous exams, If you do you'll get full partial credit.

Comment:

Awesome professor and one of the best experiences I have had so far at a Math class in UT. His lectures are really helpful and fun and most of the questions on the quizzes and tests are the ones that he has solved in class. Make sure to take notes as it helps a ton during tests and quizzes.

I've gone out of my way to take all of my math classes with Prof. Stein. He goes very in depth with his lectures, but tests on the basics of the material. As long as you put in the minimum effort, you could get a B easily. With a little extra work, you'll get an A. He cares about his students' performance.

Dr. Stein is amazing. Easily the best professor I have had here at UT. Very engaging lectures, his exams are the basics of the material so he doesn't try to trick you. He is a lot of fun and can be really funny.

he is good and knows his stuff. After all, he's been doing Math all his life. At first though, I was very upset about his grading but I studied hard for the final exam and got an A. He good!

He is very good at explaining, but sometimes explains too much which can get confusing. Expect a quiz weekly. The questions are usually based off an example he did in class. Homework isn't mandatory; he goes over the problems in class. Exams have similar questions to the quizzes. Highly recommended!

Nice guy ! very helpful, just go to class and you'll be fine. if he repeats solving any problem, it's on the next test or quiz. weekly quizzes, will tell what exactly on some of them. VERY fast and easy grader. Would take him again for sure.

Stein is a great and fun professor. There are plenty of times that he made the whole class laugh. He teaches out of the book and from problems worked out in class. Homework is optional but recommended if you want to learn. Attendance is taken everyday and will affect your grade. Quizzes are almost guaranteed every Friday.

I heard that he was a hit or miss. In reality you better be prepared to work your butt off and see him in his office hours. He is better one to one. His tests are not that hard if you study and show up. He does explain a lot but I personally would not take his class again.

I think he's a great guy! He grades very fast and fair. Quizzes are often but they're relevant to what's going on in class and sometimes the quiz is even a question he's already worked out in previous classes. There's no surprises and he answers any questions you might have. Also gave some extra credit towards the end of the semester.

Professor Stein truly wants his students to do well. He will answer any question asked and make sure you understand his response. He will not leave a student confused as long as you speak up. He is always wiling to show detail and go back and explain. GREAT TEACHER!

Dr. Stein was amazing in my opinion. He was hard on his students, but, that only meant he knew we could learn the material even though it was hard. He does a lot of sample quizzes and exams, and he does a really great job at helping you 1-on-1 if needed. He's always in for his office hours. I am taking him again in the Fall for Calculus II!

Great professor. The subject is hard and he holds you accountable for it. His class is not easy, a lot of people don't like him, but you will learn a lot if you put in the effort! I was a 4.0 student and he held me accountable. I wont have my 4.0 next year, but my experience in his class was humbling.

Comment:

Ivie is the best teacher I've had at UT. He gives you reviews for every exam which are basically the exact same problems that are on your exams. He is very fair with grading and if you go to his office hours he helps a lot. I plan on taking calc 3 with him.
