Comment:
She speaks only Spanish during class unless she's giving directions on an important assignment. She is required to use the online program that comes with the textbook and most issues in her class come from the technology and her frustrations with it, but she will correct mistakes. She likes to joke but can come off as rude, and her class isn't easy

Not specific on what she expects out of an assignment. HATES English even when you don't understand something. Very difficult to enjoy the class when you aren't sure what is expected of you.

Cuadra is a nice lady, nice to talk to, but.. her workload is insane. Be prepared to make this class your part time job. If you are involved in anything, Good Luck! Most of the homework is graded by random, and test come quick. So read, read, read. More like Advanced Hispanic Literature rather than an intro class.

She is a great professor, but you really need to work hard and pay attention in her classes. She definitely gives you the grade you deserve. While, she does assign a lot of work that isn't necessarily graded, it helps you understand the lectures and what is going on in class. Her classes have made me into a more confident Spanish speaker!

She truly cares about students and will do anything to help them succeed. She knows a lot about literature. Its hard for nonnative speakers because she demands a lot of reading, but if you're on top of everything, you will get a good grade.

Dr. Cuadra is a great person, but an awful teacher. She has twenty true or false questions on every test. In Spanish. She lectures (for this class) in the afternoon with the lights off and very rarely explains things adequately. She also plays favorites and can be rather rude. The class is also really hard. Again, good person, terrible teacher.

Dr. Cuadra is a really good teacher. I did learn a lot from her. She tries to make the class interesting but it can be boring and hard. However, taking the class is worth because you learn a lot about Latin America.

If possible, avoid Cuadra. She doesn't teach you anything about literature or the language. She tends to be condescending and negative in class. She seems like a cool person, but is a terrible teacher.

When I read these comments of Cuadra,(I had never had her before), I was TERRIFIED! However, I didn't have a single problem with her. She was very understanding, and helpful with homework. The only negative is that she gets VERY upset if you speak English in her class. If you show up, and pay attention, you'll be fine in this class!

This class is only easy for native speakers or those who have taken her in the past. She bases everything off powerpoints. If you dont go to class you might miss alot. She likes it when you participate. Not clear on paper requirements. Pretty much, if you do the readings, memorize vocabulary, and pay attention you're fine. Tests are mostly written.

Cuadra is unable to make a single student feel of worth, feel her worth nor has she implemented any changes in her teaching style for the past 4 years. Each day in class was the same routine that has proven to be ineffective. Expectations were not clear, she skips final reviews and makes empty promises. I am very disappointed in this professor!

Very horrible professor. She doesn't explain requirements for papers nor prepares you for exams. She always cancels class. She discourages native speakers from speaking and from taking the class. She doesn't know the stories read in class. Does a lot of group work so she wont have to grade a lot of homework. Is not available. Complains a lot.

For her online class she will not get back to you if you have a question, whether you email her or write it in the questions and concerns section. Her directions are incomprehensible so you're pretty much on your own.Takes months to grade your assignments so if you make a mistake in the first one you won't find out until you've already done 5 others

Cuadra is a good grad school teacher, she may be a little hard on undergrads but this is nothing to worry about too much. You always need to keep her happy, you make her mad once, she will hate you until the end. However, I think she is a nice person overall, I recommend her for grad level courses.

for oral and written spanish i think she is a good teacher. she isnt too clear on some assignments but its not a problem. she is very nice and funny. quizzes and tests are not hard if you study..quizzes are vocab and exams are over grammar.

Gives only criticism, it fuels her. She will comment on your personal life inappropriately. What she has done is attempted to invalidate me. I suspect some form of sexism, racism and ageism or resistance because I am American, young and female. Not only did I not feel valued, I felt as if it was an attempt to devalue me in the Spanish program.

Took the night class at the CUE and she often held us over time. Very hard to Understand, uses WebCT for EVERYTHING. 2 papers and she doesn't tell you what she expects in them. Uses powerpoints in class and expects you to know what every spanish term means. If you're taking this for a Non-Western class, I'd find someone else.

Easy-going, laid-back atmosphere. Very discussion-based classes. Cuadra was helpful and encouraging, however didn't explain what she wanted out of her students (no rubic/guidlines for papers, presentations, etc). Some what unorganized.

cuadra is very hard to understand in her spanish classes, it's not her accent but she doesn't make anything clear as to what she wants from her students until you ask her specifically.
