Comment:
Dr. Ellis is fantastic lecturer, so much that I looked forward to coming to class everyday. However, he is a tough grader and the whole class is only out of 4 assignments, each which he makes only 20 points, which makes it tough to do well. But hes a smart professor whos willing to help, so I would say take him.

Comment:
Ellis' French Revolution class was very in-depth and thorough. I learned a great deal in it. He just lectures every class, so i could imagine someone less interested could get bored, although he is engaging. Two exams and a significant paper. A pretty fair amount of reading. 3 paperbacks for the paper.

Attendance should be mandatory, we are in college, people! He teaches a vast subject and condenses it down to the interesting bits. Start reading your books and drafting your essays early to stay on top of the game. Exams are based on lecture, and he grades fairly. I received multiple A's on assignments.

This guy is in my top all time professors list. His class is the most interesting I ever went to! Has a cause/effect outlook on history and isn't about all of the dates. His tests are totally off of his lectures, so you don't need to read the book. The two essays you have to write are very hard, but he gives you plenty of time and help.

Tests are a breeze but he is the harshest paper grader I have ever known, even if you do exactly what he asks you will get no better than a B+, it is just the way he grades!

Good teacher but there are things you have to know about his class. Don?t miss any classes because you will do poorly on the next test. You need the books, but don?t worry about the editions. Pay close attention when he is explaining your essays because it can get confusing. Make sure to find a study buddy because Ellis will not help you.

His lectures are the best I've heard. He's pretty laid back and straight forward. I thought the essays were difficult but he was more than willing to give me guidance when I needed it.

I had Dr. Ellis for my capstone seminar over the summer. He was very helpful and showed great interest in my thesis. It is very hard to find a professor that is more laid back than him. He will not BS you when it comes to your grade. He is perfectly clear and precise about what he wants.

His lectures are very interesting, but there was no textbook. So if someone missed a class, they missed a chunk of the lesson. But he is a great instructor.

Took him for 112 and 113. Go to class, take notes and you will be fine. Others are right about the papers, but if you ask for help before hand he will really steer you in the right direction. Very easy-going lecture style, sometimes funny. The way the clas is set-up I could use older, cheaper versions of the texts.

Good lecturer but made mistake on grading my test and never corrected it. Would hardly listen when I tried to ask him about it. Tests are fairly easy if you study but paper grading is VERY hard! I don't know anyone who got an A in his class!

Great Lecturer. Not just a bunch of dates. VERY TOUGH ON THE PAPERS! Be sure you know what he wants show him your rough draft he'll help you out. Had to color maps, kind of jr high for me but oh well. Tests are easy, but only 100 points total in class do EC if he allows it! Easy to work with, very friendly if not a bit absentmined at times.

This guy is tough, but you can succeed, give him what he asks for without any fluff. Pretend you are a lawyer in your paper, prove the point with facts. Great guy, fun to listen to, loves to teach! Don't miss History Quiz night at Churchills! He is a hoot! Take him.

Dr. Ellis is great. He is fun and he is also fair. Initially I didn't want to take his class but now that I did I really like him. He won't take crap, so just put forth a good effort and you should be ok. I'd recommend him.
