I have always gotten A's and B's one C one. In this class your if your interpretation does not match him he will make it be known by the grade he gives you. Very unhelpful and hates for you to come to him and ask questions.

While I do respect that he is very intelligent, he is also very harsh. He does expect you to work a lot which is understandable, but doesnt like to offer a lot of help. He will make fun of you in front of the whole class if you do ask for help, so be careful. I would recommend his class to those who are willing to put in a lot of extra hard work.

Horrible teacher and very tough grader. he was very rude and made you feel like less of a person because you did not know everything. The only way you will get an A is if you go above and beyond, not if your average. And he does not like if you email him with a question, he tells you to figure it out or ask a classmate. DO NOT recommend

This class was fun and really rewarding. It was an independent study and he was really took time for each of us in the class and made sure our tones were correct and our pronouciation was right. I felt he really cared about our progress through Chinese. It's a super difficult language and Mr. Lerych made it enjoyable. Plus all his fun stories.

If you have a genuine interest in learning the material, you'll do fine. Sure, he'll call you out in the middle of class and maybe make you embarrassed, but everyone in the class is in the same boat, so it really feels more like a study group than a class. The most effective foreign language teacher I've ever had. Just pay attention and practice.

I'm a good student. Mostly A's, handful of B's. But this class was hard for me. I got an A but I had to work my ass off for it. The average grade for the class my quarter was a D+C- Everything was lecture notes. No slides, no book, no outlines, no test reviews, nothing! Just your notes. Interesting material though. Just be ready to study a lot

I can respect Jacek for his talent and for his passion. I can even appreciate that he demands so much from his students, but I do not respect how cruel he can be to people or how impatient he is. A little kindness wouldn't kill him. God forbid you ever ask a question, more likely than not he'll just humiliate you. He's a very talented egomaniac

The most brutal, yet effective instructor I've taken. He is an instructor who teaches by calling on people and asking them things in Spanish. He'll "force" you to learn by embarrassing you if you don't. If you fail to keep up with his in-class conversations, he will humiliate you on the spot. Despite this, there are students who love his class.

Lerych is very intimidating at first. Don't give up after Spanish 1, thoug. He loosened up in Spanish 2 and turned out to be very fun and hilarious. He is the most fascinating person I have ever met. He doesn't give many assignments, but the class requires a lot of studying because you're, well, learning a whole new language. Take his classes!

Very abrasive and border line abusive. I believe the college allows this instructor to continue treating students like this because he teaches 10 languages. he is the foreign language department. And lets face it, we love to save money, even if students are in an abusive environment. I am an honor roll student. I do study.

Excellent "traditional" instructor-provides a lot, expects a lot in return. Moves fast, but always provides clarification when requested. Teases a bit, but it's a sign of admiration for students' efforts, rather than a put-down. Attend class, note EVERYTHING he writes on the board, and elaborate as much as you can on the last section of the tests.

Mr. Lerych is a genious teacher. Any bad review on here is from students whom either don't care about learning a language and just need credit or are extremely unitelligent and unmotivated. If you want to learn, and put in a good amount of studying, you will not find a better class from a better teacher.
