AVOID AT ALL COSTS! He tried to teach us circuits in the summer, but his ineptitude was obvious. He is not qualified to be college faculty. A lot of bright students dropped the class after the first week.

I was excited for 122 after taking 121. Ended up dropping out of 122. Worst teacher, and the laziest teacher I've had by far. Avoid him at all cost.

Not a good instructor. Almost anyone who's had him complains, for good reason: he never makes it clear what he wants, writes some of the worst program specs of all time (grammar mistakes EVERYWHERE). Half the work in assignments and labs is figuring out what he intended for you to do. Also, even with hard work, earning a good grade won't be easy.

Jack is a good guy prepare to teach yourself a lot which is the nature of software. Need thick skin because he's not afraid of calling you out in class. His assignments aren't clear, but they are just as hard as Ofallons. CS 121/2 are tough if you're not a CS Major regardless if you take them from. You'll get out of his course what you put in

This class was a complete waste of time. If class wasn't canceled in the middle of the session due to Jack's lack of preparation, you would still wake up to go there at 8 in the morning just to listen to him talk about things the same things he went over during the first month of the semester. Will probably have to make it up at another university

STAY AWAY unless you already have some programing experience. He's a good guy and widely available for office hours, where he's most helpful, but if you have never done C programing take O'fallon, otherwise be prepared to have your life ruled. If you though chem 105/106 was a PITA you haven't seen nothing yet. 20hrs/assignment are not unusual.

Class is not hard, just too many assignments. He is very available and so is his TA. No reason not to do well in his class although his personality will be distracting for some. This is one prof. where you must go to office hours. He will help.

On the first day of class I thought he would be easy. All he talked about was beer and rock 'n roll. Always brought his dog to class too. As a teacher though he is terrible. HW assignments were ridiculously hard and took about 20hrs to complete. If you see him in the hallway, say hi because he is a cool guy, just a terrible teacher. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!

I like this guy. He seemed like a hard ass at first, but he definitely grew on me as the semester progressed. While his tests were difficult, I think that his lectures prepared me for them.

122 from Jack was a cake walk. I never went, never listened and just kinda skimmed the book. People who say he is hard generally don't make it in the CS program as Jack is more of a realist than a "this is the wave of the future" kind of guy.

He makes the class way harder than it needs to be and he is generally unwilling to help confused students. He picks favorites, though, and he'll answer their questions.

Get ready to have NO LIFE, His assignments are hard and even more simply completely time consuming. I've taken computer science classes, at Bellevue CC, and Portland State U. and learn a ton, I learned nothing in class, you learn competely out of the book. He dosen't no explain anything clearly and when you ask he say he explained it. STAY AWAY!!!!

Jack is probably the most pompous professor I have ever had. He thinks, by some strange miracle, that because he can program in basic C++ that he is somehow a diety and that his students are worthless sub-human morons. He motivates students through fear. This class just wasn't a pleasant experience.

Jack acts out the worst type of boss you'll ever have (motivates by fear). While educational, can be destructive. Lectures are more practical app and less info, which threw us off. Read the book to learn/memorize, come to lecture to apply, and work hard. It's too much for one class, but can be very rewarding when your work gains Jack's approval.
