Comment:

Avoid him for cs445 (take Ramirez), but in CS447 I thought he was pretty good. You can tell that the concepts in 447 are what he's truly good at. Learned a lot in 447 and really enjoyed the course. Code on his exams can be strange, though, and watch out for his true/false questions. I hated having him in 445, but 447 with DeCarvalho was a pleasure.

His lectures are pretty boring but he does cover the concepts for the exams really well. The example code that he gives sets you up for the programming assignments; just build from them. He is ALWAYS willing to help you out and has office hours almost everyday of the week.

God must really hate me to have made me have 2 classes with this guy in the same semester. Please please avoid this man. He teaches nothing, gives irrelevant assignments, then tests how well you can pick out an insignificant bug in a 3 page program. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Better yet, FIRE FIRE FIRE

Talks about how java is only a "vehicle" for the course, but then tests on extreme details and particulars of java, like GUIs. Stutters a lot. Took the same class over again and learned more than I realized the course was supposed to teach from a different prof (Ramirez).

Avoid this professor if you are starting out in CS. He goes and on and on about easy topics and barely touches difficult things that you run into in assignments. You're better off just reading the book on your own. One positive thing- he is helpful if you go to his office hours.

He is sooooo slow. His tests are terrible, they are concentration tests and do not test your knowledge of the material. I didn't learn anything in this class. He also tells you to email him with questions but never replies to your mails!
