Jae Oh is an awesome professor. Although the class is not easy, he genuinely cares for your success in the class. He uses great examples to explain concepts and makes sure he gets to know each student. If you can demonstrate to him that you have a good understanding of the material, you will do well in his class.

He warns you at the start of the class, that it will be HARD. He's not bluffing. He has very high expectations, and throws a lot of material at you, but its not an unreasonable amount. I had him for two classes, and he was very consistent. Very good professor, but his classes require a lot of work.

Never prepared for class. Doesn't talk loud enough, or write big enough, despite our requests. Constantly complains about what we don't know, or should know. Useless lectures -- thank god for Berkeley's web site. His own code is hideous.

Oh read directly from the book, and taught concepts that a fool could grasp. Had to teach myself LISP with no help from Oh or the book. Was a guess and check language learning experience where I coulda done the same thing in 5 minutes in C++ or Java.

One of the most accessible professors I ever had the pleasure of learning from. His classes were very well-taught and thorough. One of the few professor who seemed to have fun teaching. A rare genius who is skilled at sharing his knowledge.
