Donnelly is one of the best at UW. This man is a genius when it comes to British/Irish History & gives lectures w/ a great fire & passion. He had a great sense of humor and always opened class w/ an update on Badger Sports and the Yankees. Saying goodbye to Donnelly was also sad for me, since he is retiring after 40 wondrous years of teaching.

Tests: 2 ID's chosen from a list of 6. 1 essay to write chosen from 2-3 (usually 3). A list of 7 possible essay topics sent out ~10 days prior. The class will opt for 2 midterms, which allows you to weight them and the final to your liking (within set ranges). Friendly, approachable, and interesting. DON'T MISS LECTURES!!!! (too much info)

Interesting class, gives a TON of information. May be useful to learn how to write with both hands... Does give the option of taking multiple midterms and weighting them individually. Sends out essay questions a few days before the test. Funny guy with thick bronx accent.

Kicks ass, tells you exactly what he wants you to know, its importance, andlater if it will be on the test. The guy actually tells gives you the essay questions two days before the tests. You would have to be brain dead not to do well. Very good lecturer, not a windbag.

Thick Bronx accent, likes to tell jokes and talk about the Yankees. Knows his stuff, very friendly man if you get a chance to talk to him. Gives essay ?'s before the test. Gave our class the option of taking a second midterm and then being allowed to weight our tests as we saw fit. Good prof.

Lectures are interesting, but are a continuous stream of information, so be prepared to write quickly. He is an extremely nice and helpful man, however, and gives out the test essays before the exam. Overall, a great class!
