Dr. Fickle is really funny and I would like to be his friend. However, do not go near one of his classes. He stands at the front of the room and speaks every class. He usually lets you out about 15 minutes early, but it's very difficult to make it through the class. Only grades are 3 tests which are basically impossible to pass! & I'm an A student

Mr. Fickle is extremely funny, and very knowledgable. He tells you how it is and doesn't sugarcoat anything. The only downside is that the lectures can be very long and taking notes is vital to you passing the class. He has no attendance policy but skipping this class only hurts you. Gives very few test but they cover a range of material.

Fickle's class consisted of ALL videos. Everyday we watched movies about wilderness stuff. The books he assigned are a MUST read to pass. Don't try to not either, it won't work. Test are all essay from the books and movies. He is a really hard grader but if you bomb the test he does makeups on your time. Hard to stay awake in class! Plus he's 93!!!

I have had him for three classes, he's my favorite teacher. I do not do the readings he assigned, it wasnt needed, I just showed up for class and took notes, he actually did tell you everything you need to know for the tests...if you had been attending, you all would know that! Tests are not hard, but straight forward and fair.

Very helpful. Attendance was not mandatory and he emails a study guide a week before the test. His study guides are a bit long, but very helpful on the test. Lectures are slightly boring, but can be humorous. Not a bad professor at all.

Frequently told the class he was "Too old to care." Covers every unimportant detail except what he expects you to know on the tests. I've never had a problem with challenging professors, but his lack of interest in everything except his tenure made it extremely hard to perform well in his course.

He is very sarcastic and loves to joke around. His lectures can be boring but he doesn't make you show up every class and basically lets you dig your own grave in his class in how you want to do. His test can be all over the place so take heed. Make sure you read all the books he wants in order to pass.Overall some will like him and some won't.

Painful. I never saw him get rude, but he does lecture on everything but what you'll need for the test. The study guides helped but they were so massive you were still left looking for 1000 answers to a 50 question test. He knows his history but at the end of the lecture you knew more side-notes about the events than you did about the real events.

I took the Video-Assisted version. Dr. Fickle puts at least 6 chapters/videos on one test. It's impossible to know out of 50 multiple choice what to expect. I took him once and failed and the second time I applied myself more and still was going to fail even with having a baby....so I withdrew.

Interesting lectures, but the 3 tests can be fairly hard. Luckily, he has given 3 extra-credit chances (1 of which was based solely on whether or not students did not leave class when he had a sub). Nice teacher if you are interested or motivated. Great teacher for a history major, or any dedicated student for that matter.

I thought that this class was going to be easy because he gives multiple choice tests insteadof essays but he doesn't give much to study you basically have to study everything. He is a horrible history teacher. He lectures the whole time and only discusses things that he thinks are important not the key events of american history. hes just bad.

This Professor doesn't teach. You might as well be taking an online class. Nothing he talks about is on the test. The test are hard, hard, hard because he never tells you what you need to know about the subject. You have to know it all. He goes by 100% text book. I made a B only because he grades on a curve. Don't take this class. Run!

Listened to what you had to say. Watched movies to help understand what he was talking about. Cared if you got a bad grade. Would let you turn papers in multiple times to be able to get an A. Even if you got a B you could turn it back in for an A. Great teacher. Very glad I took his class.

He seems to not be very enthusiastic about teaching. He acts like this is a job to him and nothing more. He also is not the nicest person. I saw him get rude with different students on several occasions. He needs to retire and let someone fill his position who actually wants to teach history and knows how to be a little nicer to students.

He is a great teacher...keeps it interesting. Lectures the whole time, so be prepared to write a book of notes. :) Tests are all multiple choice, so study hard. No papers, gives 15 points extra credit if you go to the Civil Rights Museum and write a 4-page paper on it...easy!
