I had Jim in 2006 and he liked students who worked hard and actually had the talent needed to be in the studio /fine arts. He did have memory loss later on and maybe grumpy to those that did not succeed or do the work well but I thought he was a good teacher. I had no problems doing well in his classes.

At first I did not like this profesor because he was very critical in a blunt manner. Soon he became one of my favorites because I realized that he had lots of knowledge about art/ceramics and is very good at helping people improve their art aesthetically as well as technically. He has a good sense of humor and can help you if you are patient

I had him and hated him. I even posted that here. But since I've escaped and he's gone a little light has been shed on the subject. He had a newly diagnosed medical condition that affected his blood sugar. Which granted should have been more directly delt with, but he was trying. If anyone knows someone with a blood sugar issue you know it can affect mood and memory. No excuse for his behavior but I hope it helps others in knowing that maybe before that he might have been a decent guy.

For a Fine Arts elective, this class is easy!! All you have to do is read EVERYTHING in the handouts and get copies of old tests from the library. His tests are VERBATIM from the handouts. The tests are fill in the blank with a word bank provided. Again, memorize handouts and old test, guaranteed A

This guy is HORRIBLE! He told me that the culinary arts weren't really an art and that I had never been creatively challenged til his class... All he ever did was put in a video, fall asleep, or repeat the same sentance til you wanted to shoot yourself!!

I learned more in five minutes with a substitute professor than I did in an entire semester with Hansen. He's a tough grader and makes absolutely no sense when he talks. Avoid taking him at all costs, but life drawing is a requirement.
