probably my favorite professor so far. he expects you to do the reading assignments and do your best which really isnt all that terrible of a requirement. its not the end of the world if you have to crack open a book

Although his flamboyance will catch you off-guard, he is definitely an intelligible person and I would prefer taking his class again over any other. The amount I learned is beyond compare, and I have found what I learned useful in several fields.

Dr. Pearce is one of the best college teachers I have had. He is a bit exsentric but who isn't. I wish all my porfessors had as much passion about what they teach as Dr Pearce does.

His class is easy, but Pearce is weird. He has gross humor. TONS of textbook reading, and you have to read a book during the semester.

I started out in his class believing it would be the worst experience of my life. I ended the class feeling the exact opposite. Though he does give many large assignments, he gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and is not a difficult grader at all. As long as you pay attention and read the book you will be fine. Don't let him scare you.

If youre a stubborn christian who doesnt want to (or cant) defend his or her beliefs, avoid him like the plague. Otherwise, take his class and be prepared to argue. He challenges all of his students but its well worth it, and beats sitting there for an hour and a half with a dumb look on your face. He's helpful when you need it. READ the book tho.

At the beginning of the semester he makes it seem like his class is the hardest/most detrimental class of your college career. It's not. His class is not as hard as he makes it seem. YOU HAVE TO READ YOUR BOOK! His class takes a lot of time outside of class. Plus, he's pretty much an arrogant jerk. Good luck!

He's a pretty easy grader, but the class is AWFUL. Apparently no one but James Pearce is entitled to an opinion. Not only will you read hundreds of pages from the textbook, but you will be required to read from another book which requires a group project and two reports. (No class time for group project) Avoid him if at all possible.

He's interesting and knows his stuff. A large writing assignment is required and his tests are pretty tough even though they're take home (thank God they're take home)! I didn't think it was too bad.

Dr. Pearce is a very intelligent man but he is a major arrogant jackass. He thinks he knows everything and voices his opinion when no one cares to hear it. His class isn't hard at all, it's somewhat interesting but he makes it unbearable. GOOD LUCK WITH HIM!

Some lectures are really interesting, some are really boring. His take home exams are easy if you make sure you read and understand the material in the book. He definitely has strong opinions and is not afraid to voice them. I can't say I'll ever use the information I learned in this class.

The class started out normal, and then people started dropping like flies. I should've checked the warning signs. This guy needs an ego reducer! He wrote the book and teaches confusingly. He will have you read not only 100's of pgs of his book, but also a toss up between 7 other books he has picked. He picks which one you read, then you have to w

James Pearce opened my eyes to the joys of philosophy. He is a fantastic professor! He challenges the closed-minded and provides the open-minds with all kinds of interesting and funny information. He is very good at making what could be a pretty dry subject (comparitive religions) VERY interesting. Great use of humor and examples.

Took him awhile ago. Great teacher, straightforward, although strict. He's pretty brilliant, but to who says he doesn't like ignorance: he just doesn't like anyone with a contradictory view to his own view. I brought up some things he misquoted from the Bible. He merely discredited me and passed my Bible which I had in my hand off as inaccurate.

I would consider him to be a good teacher. He really knows his stuff, after all he DID write the book, but he grades very hard. Overall if you read the stories and take notes in class you should be alright. Actually if a pretty cool guy
