One of the worst professors I've ever had. Crass. His lectures were read excerpts from the book. I would have skipped his class entirely (just read it myself) but he intentionally put a nugget in his lecture so if you weren't in class you would fail test. A semester long project was only really defined adequately 2 weeks before due (at finals).

Terrible professor. Acts like you've taken a couple years of CS before the fundamentals course. Everyone either dropped out or wished they did. I only passed because my roommate taught me what I should have learned in class.

I have him for Computing fundamentals (the lowest level of computer programming courses) and he teachers it like everyone has taken three years of a programming course. No one understands what he's talking about and about three quarters of the class dropped it, even though it is mandatory. Unless you know the subject ahead of time, avoid him.

I recommend having some understanding of the information before hand. He gives new angles on material and many tangental stories that generally tie in, in some way. In this sense, he is extraordinarily valuable. Don't assume he's a *bad* teacher. Idiots WILL do poorly. Expectations far from overwhelming. Unix Net Prog likely his best taught course.

Unix - didn't learn much of anything, but already knew my stuff though. His teaching of unix was mediocre at best. Wasted time. Comp org - Disorganized, but still a great class. Less fluff and more content. Learn through osmosis and the book though. In class is more for general brain expansion.
