Comment:
I took an online class from him and while I do understand that with online classes you need to put a great deal of time into them, well this class requires excessive time. Video lectures are outdated and very hard to follow as they can be quite boring. He does not provide good feedback or explanations for his grading.

Comment:
Mr. Johnson supplies excessively long video lectures containing extremely slow speaking and full of pauses and disorganization. He uses vimeo, so there is no way to speed up the video. They are painful to get through. He writes his own textbooks which are full of errors in formatting and logic. There aren't many assignments, grading is vague.

TERRIBLE class. More than halfway through and loathing his teaching method. Replaying lectures from 3 years ago, having to read multiple articles that are at great length every week. Teacher is unclear about assignments. Makes us read his personal writing methods, which seem to be from a class he was taking for his thesis. Whole class is 3 papers.

I don't know what some of these folks are talking about. Johnson is a fine professor. And he's not arrogant at all. If you simply don't want your beliefs challenged, then this might not be the class for you. (It's called Ethics, Politics, Law.... what did you expect?) Otherwise, you're fine. Great professor, great readings.

He is a good professor as long as you repeat exactly what he believes, you'll pass! He also hates textbooks, if you have him you'll never have to read!

Comment:
When asking for instructions he was vague, and what he did say never matched how he graded. There was no discussion among students, he lost emails, spent most of the lecture time defending using Darwin, instead of actually the approach he wanted. He did not respect other opinions, nor did he provide an environment for student interaction.

Worst instructor I ever had. Class was a joke. After the first couple of weeks I realized that he didn't care at all. I didn't watch the lectures or read the material. I simply parroted back exactly what he said using his ITTBE and received an "A". Waste of time and money.

Professor Johnson a good teacher for Critical Thinking. I enjoyed the Inference To The Best Explanation and felt that it was a useful tool to learn for future Critical Thinking. He is kind of quirky and I enjoy his video lectures. He is biased but admits it and welcomes alternative points of view; he just asked that you support it.

No feedback on assignments, taught off of his own writing that (admittedly) he could not get published. Was very unclear when asked specific questions.

Had 4 classes with Johnson. Pros: Does well at teaching the material, personable, answer questions well, passionate about philosophy, is a fair grader, & genuinely cares about students. Cons: Liberally biased, admits trying to change students political views, uses own writings as a text. Overall he's not a bad prof. Just biased and a bit arrogant.

As a Lecturer he has a tendency to ramble but his writing is clear and thought-provoking. I've learned a great deal from him and will miss him as a Professor when I graduate next term.

Jeff Johnson is a terrible professor. I took the course Critical Thinking, and I will not pay for any more courses offered by this individual. His course did not teach critical thinking, rather it taught his self created and completely useless ITTBE process. There is a reason his work is unpublished and why no one uses this method.

If you don't believe in what he does, or believe in his methods you will receive a low grade. He is egotistical, and refers to himself in 3rd person at leaste 3 times during his hour lecture.

Everyone who has given Jeff a bad rating is an idiot. Sorry if you were looking for an easy class but this is college. I learned more in this class than almost any others I have taken. Yes, it was hard work, but that is what a college class should be. He is gifted and brilliant and I am sadded that many don't see that. Dr. Johnson, GREAT JOB!
