He does not know how to teach. He gets you to do the presentations and makes comments all the way through. He talks down to you when you research something and talks on and on.

Comment:

Jay White teaches some of the best history classes I ever took at Dal. Pirates were the first Marxists. Nova Scotia can be characterized by its culture of anti-modernity and occupational pluralism. I went for the deep approach and got an A in both his classes. Some of the students gave grade 8 style presentations which was tedious.

Comment:

Wow... a nice man, however, he has not given back any marks. He has horrible work ethic and perhaps should not be working at a university. Students pay enough money to get their marks in a timely manner and to have well organized and planned classes.

Jay is a nice guy but a poor teacher. His classes were very unorganized, he frequently misplaced his presentation material (powerpoint, movies) and had to "wing" his lectures. Midterms were lost (his computer crashed), deadlines seemed pointless because he'll accept anything at any time.

enthusiastic, funny, great presentations and marks fairly. have taken two classes and am taking a third from him. If you cannot love the material, he makes you love actively participating in your own learning.

Professor White has to be one of the worst professors that I ever had. A person could be on her deathbed and he would expect you to pass in your paper. He plays 100 per cent by the book and changes the classes around to suit his needs. As well, he doesn't teach; students do boring presentations.
