Mastering the HW problems is crucial. Reading is also important. You get out what you put it. Read and do HW BEFORE lecture! Lectures are mostly higher level theory vs. quantitative examples. But, he's happy to work problems if you ask him. Don't expect to sit in lecture and have information spoon fed to you. He's very knowledgeable about physics.

Professor explains the theory well. Make sure you read and do homework. Test are 10 questions with partial credit. 1st 2 test are hard. Lab is easy A. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK and understand the formulas he tells you to study. DO NOT BE LAZY PHYSICS II IS HARD ANYWHERE. Professor is fair and follows his rules 100%.

The class is hard itself. Professor makes it harder. Do the homework, ALL OF IT. Rambles on a lot. The first two tests are the hardest, EVER. He gives cheat sheets during tests that are useful. Final was extremely difficult. No curves, no drops, no quizzes, no homework graded. Only tests are graded. Avoid if possible, especially in the summer.

This is the worst professor I've had so far. We formed a study group in our class because teacher did not teach as ANYTHING at all. If we would do homework and then listen to what he explains in class, we would always get very confused. Always talks about random things instead of focusing on the subject. I really did not like this class.

I took him for 1211 and 1112 and have no complaints, Very Fair! Grading scale is great 63 is a C. UNDERSTAND THE HOMEWORK COMPLETELY and their should be no surprises on the exams. Although he does think very highly of his 1212 class and repetitively told us how it is the "hardest class on campus" Would take him again.

Class (and the final) are EASIER than others make it sound. Make sure you understand HW 100% and ask him to do all problems you don't. Tests are short and no drops so be very careful with your math errors. Labs are guaranteed 95%, but you'll have to go to class and understand the HW to pull an A. Easy B otherwise.

Does he know his stuff? Yes. Will you despise physics after taking his class? Yes. I actually was looking forward to this class, I ended up learning very little and hating physics after this course. As others have stated he does make valid points during lecture, it just happens to be a rare occasion that they are valid to the class.

He knows physics but he is a mediocre professor. Goes off on a tangent EVERY class. Tests are difficult but final is IMPOSSIBLE. He made the entire class feel stupid because we were assigned a particular book. Make sure your questions aren't obvious to HIM or he will make YOU feel stupid. Proud to make a C.

There is no question this professor knows physics, teaching on the other hand is not his strong point. He is a nice guy, but his lecture notes are mostly useless. He gives so much detail it is hard to pick out the important stuff. If you like things direct and to the point this class will drive you insane like it has me.

He's a good professor. Tests are not exactly like the homework, but if you do the homework you should at least make a B. He may get off topic sometimes, but keep in mind how many classes and labs this guy teaches. If you can find him outside of class he's very helpful. His formulas sheets are really helpful too.

I thought that after I had him for 2211 that I would do ok in his 2212. I guessed that I would be used to his bogus and/or absent teaching techniques. Not the case. Worthless lectures. The only classes worth attending are the ones where he works problems. Apt to be a jerk(even if its unintentional) to people who ask questions

Ok, He is not that bad but gezzz does he ramble about things a student does not care about (department politics, history, personal problems). This makes the class extremely dry and unhelpful. The exams however are not that bad and if you read and do homework a B is cake (78.5 is a B). I however, will not take him ever again.

Dr. Whitenton Knows the material very well and can explain in it a way that is easy to understand. The tests are generally close to the homework, but knowing how to work with the equations he gives you is also vital to doing well in here.

This man is a teacher. I am sure my grade may not show that, but that is my problem. I learned Physics. His teaching methods may be unorthodox, but in my opion that is what makes him a great TEACHER. Thank You Sir..

I have taken him for 2211, and 1112--Before the so-called "EASY" comments and after. His class is NOT easy. He teaches the material very well. If you DO YOUR HOMEWORK CORRECTLY, TAKE NOTES and ASK QUESTIONS you will be fine.Physics is not a spectator sport. Prepare for class and Work hard --if you are not prepared you will fail.

I found this class difficult. I did all the homeworks but did poorly on the exams. He certainly knows his subject well, but the rambling and off-subject tangents were very distracting-they affected my attendance. He is clearly upset by many of the comments on this website;he mentioned it nearly every class. I think he has made the tests harder.

Contrary to previous comments, he is a good professor. He tends to go off on tangents sometimes (which affected my attendance) and can explain something with too much detail (which meant lost time for learning other things). Though, if you do the homework and actually try and understand the concept, then you will get a good grade.
