There is a lot of reading for this class. However, the due dates give you more than enough time to complete the assigned reading. Make sure you read all of the assigned reading! ALL test questions come straight from the book. Be sure to engage in the online discussion board and use tons of detail when answering your homework assignments.

Professor Karmel really knows his stuff and is VERY passionate about teaching history. You will definitley learn a lot in this class but if you are not a history major, some things may get a little boring. There are no tests, just online quizzes and a couple writing assignments which is great. Overall a very nice guy and great class

Loved the class, delved WAY more into History than anytime in my previous schooling. Grades tough, a little nitpicky, but I appreciate the honesty in his feedback. Pulled an A in a 5 week crash course. Be prepared to participate and READ YOUR BOOK. He provided an open source text for free. The man knows his stuff, embrace it.

I loved this class. It kept me on my toes being an 8 weeker, but I loved the reading. Professor Karmel is pretty easy- not a lot of feedback and pretty behind the scenes, but gives set timeframes. Do your reading and you'll do fine. However, prepare to participate a lot! There are a ton of discussions!!! Try and keep up!

I took this online. This class is awesome because you determine your own grade. No tests. No memorization. 2 attempts at quizzes. 2 written assignments per week. One brief 4 page research paper. Follow the syllabus to the letter and get an A. Textbook a must if you want a high grade as all quiz answers are almost word for word. Prof. K is awesome.

I learned an incredible amount in this class. He used a lot of contemporary media to bring the 1960s to life. He also helped us learn a significant amount about oral history. If you read, and show up, you should get a very good grade without a lot of intense work. Very knowledgeable. Encouraged us to think outside the box and have our own opinions.

I took the online excelerated class, which was a lot of work. Two chapters a week, two small papers a week, two quizes a week, plus a brief research paper. Though, if you can write, then you shoulf have no issues with this class.

Took the online course, gave plenty of time for all assignments, and allowed three tries for each quiz. Was slightly disappointed in his interaction with the class.

Take it online if you are well disciplined. Despite what everybody posts on here, I think the book's great. I finally understand Cold War!! His grading has fallen behind, but he just had a baby. Seems like a nice guy; returns emails in fair amt of time and eager to help. Also like that he actually participates in forums! Lots don't.

Really easy online class, allowed to submit 3 quizzes per quiz and highest grade is taken, a lot of time to complete the assignments before the deadline, common sense and doing you work will get you through.

Pretty good teacher. Gives a lot of time to complete assignments (well that is if you take the class online). But I dont like the book reading because its very hard to comprehend. I like how you get 2 tries to take a test, so if you mess up one you get 2 more chances and then he takes the highest score. I like that.

Took an online class; Used the real life class powerpoints with no aditions, confusing. Assignments are vague, and reading in book is scattered. I would avoid at all costs. I have seen no professor interaction online. Opinionated, I would be afraid to question professor and be 'labeled' and risk getting bad grades for the rest of the semester.

he is a good teacher, but fast and not very personable. he gets very frustrated if there is no class participation. his tests are difficult if you don't study. the homework he assigns, you should really read and do.

Good teacher. Very orgainzed. He gives you a hand out of everything you will cover for two weeks so you always know whats going on if you miss a class. Gives review before tests. Not many grades though. I will stick with the teacher if you have him. He makes the class interesting and likes perticipation.

Good instructor, but hard to read... he'll be approachable one day, very unapproachable the next. His expectations are also not always so clear.
