Comment:

One of my favorite and most liberal professors. She honestly inspired me to become an amazing person. She may use a few inappropriate words here and there; but you're an adult, get over it. You literally give yourself your own grade during her quizzes. You tell her your score on your honor. We're both closet Buddhists. #nirvana #worldsoul #hippies

Janae is awesome! there are three test for the semester, she drops the lowest score. She expects a lot from her students, this is an upper division class. The lectures are very interesting and she is hilarious! she makes it fun and interesting, you want to go, by far the best history professor ay UVU.

Comment:

She is one of the best History teachers I have had at UVU. She is very knowledgeable in everything ancient. I have taken Roman Republic and Roman Empire with her and would love to take more classes from her. she is very up front in what she expects from her and as long as you take good notes then you will do amazing in her class. Great Teacher!!!

Comment:

Janae is very knowledgeable. She makes the syllabus and expectations crystal clear. She has mastered her criteria so that it sticks with the student, she can go off on tangents and start telling rather hilarious (yet sometimes offensive) comments. I would definitely recommend her but you have to read, do your DAILY homework, and participate!

JaNae knows her stuff. She is a bit eccentric but if you are not uptight she comes across as humorous. As long as you do the homework, which is almost after every class, you will do just fine. She did not have a final or mid-term, just homework and a short quiz on each of the homework assignments. Fun class, easy work and reasonable rules.

Janae is hilarious and her classes are very entertaining. Lots of students get offended by her strong personality and opinions. Give her a chance and just listen. Easy class if you show up. Janae does care for the students and remembers students names if you pass her down the hall. Awesome teacher.

One of the best professors you will ever have! Attendance is mandatory but she is willing to work with just about anything as long as you tell her. Plan on having her offend you in some way every class period for the first two weeks. She is very blunt. Once you get past the first couple weeks, you will see how much she loves her students.

I wish JaNae taught more classes. I've taken three from her and each has been FANTASTIC! She expects her students to think on a deeper level and not just regurgitate basic facts. Her tests are difficult because she is VERY specific on her wording, but she's extremely fair and more than willing to help. Love her classes!

I found this class to be very difficult, there were only 4 tests and if you do not test well your grade will be dismal at best. I also found her abrasive and her comments tended to be very sarcastic. She is very knowledgable, but her teaching style was not a good fit for me.

Comment:

Janae knows her stuff. She has 3 tests and drops the lowest. Her tests are pretty tricky but if you study you should do fine. Janae is very sarcastic but gets to know everybody's name and is pretty hilarious. I would take another class from her in heart beat. I studied and got an A. She still says hello to me in the hall. Great teacher.

Go to class. Study what's on the board. This is where most questions come from. She will call you out for using a vague term such as “they”. If you ask a clear question, she will give a clear answer. She brings sources, and will always tell you where information comes from, which isn’t always the text. Attendance is graded. Illness doesn't count.

Brilliant woman! Learned a TON. Don't be oversensitive...she does like to use some dry and seemingly mean-spirited sarcasm. But she's just kidding! Take a joke people! Also, she knows her stuff (and translates most of it herself) and will teach it to you if you stop interrupting her with the stuff you found out on the History Channel. A++++

JaNae is passionate about history and has a fun,quirky style of relating that made the class even more interesting. Her tests are HARD. You have to attend class and take VERY good notes. She's very specific with this class on what she puts on the board and what is tested. Group study sessions prior to tests were extremely helpful. Great lady!

Not my cup of tea. Brilliant professor but her teaching style wasn't the best fit for me. I found the tests extremely difficult. The tests were written with multiple correct answers listed but one being the most correct. If you are good with tests then this class is ideal for you. I also disliked the strong sarcasm used.
