Prof Greenberg doesn't put any class notes on course web at all, so if you don't go to class you will fail. But overall it is an easy A as long as you pay attention.

Janelle Greenberg is arguably the best teacher I have ever had. If you like history, take English Origins of American Law. She is so passionate about the material, and she makes her students care about what you are learning. Lectures are just her talking and you have to take notes, but the effort you put into it could not be more worth it.

This was a good class. I did not like it as much Greenberg's other class since it was somewhat confusing and not structured as well. Greenberg is a good professor but has some organizational issues. However, Pitt is very lucky to have her.

NOTHING LIKE THE DESCRIPTION! English Origins of American Law rarely actually talks about the effect on US law / constitution. It's basically just a history class on early Britain that every so often talks the affect on the US law. Overall pointless. There 2 papers take the place of the midterm and final with about 5 quizzes based off lecture

I've taken both of Janelle's classes. She's the sweetest professor and knows her stuff. It's not the most interesting topic material but by the end of the semester you'll know it forward and backward. 2 papers, one is like 5-6 pgs and the other is 8-10, and some pop quizzes.

Janelle is a very knowledgeable professor and a very nice woman. However, her lectures are insanely unorganized and it seems as if she just rambles on for the entire lecture without structure. The class itself is interesting and easy. If you take this class, be prepared to write notes based off of her talking for an entire hour plus.

She designed a really interesting class if you're willing to put in the work. She's very understanding and reasonable about everything and you can really learn from her. The readings are pertinent and relatively engaging. Quizzes are short and easy (gives you the questions). Do the reading, learn a lot, get a good grade, and many take her again.

She tells you the exact questions on quizzes (4 quizzes, 3 are graded, 30% grade). She reviews over the exact stuff that should be on papers (one 6 pager and one 10 pager, 25% and 45% respectively). She's very nice, writes good letters of recommendation, and is very helpful. A lot of reading, but you don't necessarily need to do it.

Prof Greenberg is my favorite professor at Pitt ! Some people might say the class was hard, but if you come to class, take decent notes, participate you will learn A LOT and get an A. Quiz reviews are exact quiz questions, very clear about what she expects on papers. Just show up, stay awake, and have an open mind. Great Gen Ed, she cares a lot!!

avoid like that plague. She is so unorganized, and while she is nice she give absolutely no feedback on papers. Even when you go to meet with her about it she says one thing but then gives you a totally random grade. not worth the stress at all.

Wonderful person and professor! I had no experience with the course and started off poorly, and she went out of her way to email me to set up a meeting so that she could help me. The material is elaborate and not easy, but she is beyond willing to help and wants her students to succeed. If you pay attention and keep up with readings, great course

Janelle hardly needs anymore ratings for one to figure out that she is one of Pitt's best professors, hands down. She is invested in students' academics. Really encourages freshmen to do well and will go out of her way to help you if you show interest. She is the reason why I am pursuing a law degree. GREENBERG<3

Professor Greenberg is one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and she truly believes in her students. She is the reason I decided to major in history. She expects a lot but is so willing to help. I've learned more in her class than all my other classes combined, and I'll never forget any of it.
