Comment:

A very knowledgeable woman who truly cares about the well-being and success of her students. She offers lots of opportunities for extra credit in case you screw up on anything. Just be prepared; do the assignments posted online (including listening to assigned songs/pieces) and you'll be in good shape. Also don't use your phone in class!

HORRIBLE professor. she rarely even knew what she was teaching. It is an easy class however, you do need to pretty much memorize everything and attend four concerts and write a concert report - and MAKE SURE your heaing is correct or she will not grade your papers.

The class is somewhat difficult for some sections for a non-music major, overall the class is easy. The bad part is going to all the concerts. It wouldn't be bad if it was only a couple, but 4 concerts is a bit excessive.

I had her my freshmen year in college and it was the hardest class I had taken the entire year. You are expected to memorize almost every definition throughout the book along with every cd, learn the instruments that are playing, the artist, all about the artist's life and history.. the whole class is just ridiculous

Dr. Snyder has had so many wonderful experiences, particularly in Africa. She clearly loves music. She makes going to concerts a requirement for the class and I had a problem with that, but I learned a lot about the world from the class. Also makes you do a research paper which seems like overkill for this type of class. Good experience though.

Very very very very extremley boring. But nice. I play the piano and sax and I like music but music 101 is all theory and it is dreadful so boring I couldn't even stand it. But she is helpul. You have to go to 4 concerts and write reports on them, and it sucked. She does jump around,but she's nice

This class is easy if you are willing to read the book. She jumps around alot in the book and makes you check blackboard alot. She is very nice and willing to help you out if you ask. The tests are easy if you read the chapters and follow along on your music cd. not bad overall.

Anyone who said that Jean Snyder is hard and gives alot of work is a freshman. Even a 100 level class is going to take time, welcome to college. She says what you need to learn, and you go learn it. No spoon feeding here. She's one of the easier i've had
