great professor. I feel like I learned a lot more with Dr. Offutt then when I took SWE437 with Dr. Amman in my undergraduate. fairly standard class - read the textbook and pay attention in class to do good on hw/quizzes. final exam similar level of difficulty of quizzes. take him if given the chance

Amazing professor for the testing class. Read the concepts every week before class and you will never fail weekly quizzes. There is an option for retaking the quizzes. There is no midterm exam but quizzes every week. The final exam was very easy. You can take 1 paper sheet both sides handwritten to final exam. Overall, great class and lectures.

My favorite professor! He is super understanding and always willing to help. He has hilarious lectures and likes to make jokes. I really appreciate how much he cares about his students. If you like design, you will really enjoy this class. I didn't need the textbook, his slides covered everything. I am an ACS/SWE major

Make sure to come to class for quiz and lecture for an A. His lectures are very informative and entertaining, unlike his textbook which he keeps telling people to read. Fair grader, easy going personality. I believe he curved the grade so a 75 was a B-. Fairly easy quizzes and homework. Final exam had tougher questions and was long.

This is an amazing class. I thought I knew a lot of it coming in, but now I know that I knew some technology, but didn't understand the concepts. The class expanded my thinking and he related everything to the real world. He clearly wants everybody to learn, and works very hard. Now I feel like a real engineer.

I'm amazed how well he explains this hard material! At first I was dubious, because this is not how my company tests. But then I started trying some of the ideas and was surprised how well they work! I already got a commendation for improving our product, and my PM is having me teach automation and test criteria to all developers on the project.

Very helpful and tries to add humors to lectures. If you go to class on time for weekly quizzes and turn in the hwk, you won’t fail this class. Final exam is 30% of grade. The rest of your grade is from weekly quiz and hwk. If you don’t understand the material or work, go talk to him. He doesn’t talk down to students like many of GMU professors!

As a working professional, I disagree with almost every observation Dr. Offutt made about the software industry. I also found the text difficult, like a mashup of academic papers, & unnecessary. He provides much of the material in book revisions (PDF), and I quickly discovered the slides were enough anyway. I'd suggest a different instructor.

Dr. Offutt is a real Professor and even looks one! Read the material, attend class (he'll notice when you're absent more than once) and participate and you'll do well. Remember, you're not there for a grade but to learn. He presents the material in an unbiased manner, yet will let you know his opinion. He is an open minded righteous cool dude

I loved this class. Prof. Offut is one of the best professors at Mason. He is kind, understanding, and really loves teaching. Make sure you do the discussion threads and participate in class. It is an easy class if you do the work. The assigments and reading are very easy. Great class, great professor.

Easy class to pass. The professor does like to read from his power-points which can make the material more boring than already is. The books are good for the subject but are very much repetitive in finding new ways to restate the phrase "dont make users think".Professor wants students to succeed.Make sure to participate in class and on blackboard
