Gives good feedback, although you might need to ask him to read it for you. :) Speaking of reading, in this class we had to read a 250-page book in a week. Doable, but plenty of reading. 30-50 page readings are common. You will read. A lot. But that's fine, because he'll go over things with you, and you'll be well-prepared for tests.

Dr. VanDenBerg is absolutely amazing. I would certainly recommend that anyone take him, regardless of your major. He lets the class lead the discussion, and due to small class size, you do need to be ready to participate. However, this is my favorite class I have ever taken. The material itself is incredibly interesting, but he really gives it life

Dr. Vandenberg is excellent at teaching this class. Islam and Politics. There is an average amount of reading, 2 papers, 2 tests, plus a final. You learn a lot because he has had experience in the middle east and is really open minded about the subject. He tries to give you different viewpoints about the topic. Really great class

While this class had some longer readings, he worked hard to keep the conversations in class interesting. The papers were spread out fairly well and as long as you explained everything required you received a good grade. I really enjoyed this class, and would definitely take another course from this professor.

Very nice and keeps the class interested. He is a little demanding, but the knowledge is worth it. I felt like I should have known more going in, but knew a lot coming out. I felt like the class was a little too high school, the games and constant interaction was a bit much...I may have learned even more without that aspect.

Dr. Vandenberg is a challenging professor. Readings are long, tests are in depth, and papers are graded toughly. Most students are happy to get a B in his class. However, he is helpful, fair, intelligent, and very funny in class. I recommend any student take him regardless of major. He raises the bar, but doesn't make it seem impossible.

Dr. Vandenberg is a great teacher. Very intelligent and nice person. He rightly expects a lot from his students.I liked his class, except for the fact that his constant requests for answers took away from the learning for me. I am an introverted person and learn best by my own work. Being put on ts prevents learning and this was a downside for me.

This guy is a genius. He knows so much, and sometimes, it is easy to get lost in his class. He is not the easiest professor. I would encourage everyone to take a class with him, though, because he is such an incredibly talented professor.

Brilliant individual. I have really learned a lot in the class but it is a LOT of work. There aren't many tests but TONS of papers. Aside from tremendous workload he is entertaining and knowledgable in the classroom. Just be prepared to read and write a lot.

He is in fact Conan O'Brien... well he looks like him. Similar to Dr. Wolbrink only it was easier for me to grasp everything when tests and papers came. Can be a bit frazzled at times but I dont know anyone who dosen't like him. Scary talking to him around campus. I think he hates me.
