If taking as an elective with other classes, beware; printmaking is time consuming and lab intensive. If you dont commit off time to working on prints, you wont produce quality. Professor has a tendency to come in & out at her leisure. More of a facilitator than an actual teacher, plays favorites. Unclear w/ instruction, & lets students teach.

Ive taken Professor Basille for both basic and figure drawing. Shes a tough grader because she expects her students to put in the time and effort as if they genuinely want to learn how to draw. She encourages students to make appointments with her outside of class to discuss their work and future as an artist. She's not for the faint of heart!

I took P. Basile's class because I'd heard great things about her as a teacher. Maybe she taught better in the past, but she's the worst now. I learned more from the figure drawing model and sub teacher (Provicero) than I did from her. She would arrive 30 m late to class often, was vulgar, & spent more time in printmaking than in the class.

She is a tough grader. If you are looking for an easy a this is not the class for you. She will let you know of your progress. She is not gonna let you slack. She is a caring sweet lady, but she's gonna make you work. Do the hw, write down what she says she knows what she's talking about. Try to wow her. She's still a great teacher

Jen will insult you and call it like it is. I don't really like her art and she will toot her own horn to know avail. BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE AN ARTIST, take her. she pushed me off a cliff and made me work like a dog and my art has improves so much. the only way to get good is to be pushed, being coddled like a child wont take u anywhere

Her grading criteria: Be nice to her, if she likes you, you will pass the course, if she does not, be ready to have a poor grading in your works, she does not appreciate the student's work. Very unprofessional and her vocabulary is vulgar. In other words, buy a book, take another professor, watch youtube tutorials and you will learn more.

To pass this class you must do homework , meaning paint outside of class time. It's practice and help your skills progress. With your practice and her feedback you'll learn something and build a nice portfolio. I took her for painting 1 as well. Great professor. She grades by time and effort.

I took her for printmaking 1 and it was literally life changing. If you have a vision of what you want to make she will help you step by step but might have to ask more than once. She expects the most if your an art major. There is a critique for every assignment where participation is key. She cares about the future of students, art, n the college

On your own, gives very few lectures & no demos. Lacks clarity when giving instructions. Doesn’t allow reasonable time frames for course work. Doesn't grade assignments; won’t know your grade until it's posted. Extreme mood swings. Requires min. of 20 hrs outside of class in Art Resource center and her studio. Knowledgeable but not a good teacher.

Knowledgeable about the visual arts, waiting to be literally harassed by her students in the abundance of questions one might pose. Unfortunately many are intimidated by her assertiveness and you might say loudness. However, if you show effort and discipline she will without a doubt extend a hand physically & emotionally.
