She is better than I thought. I was so happy because she canceled the final for the class and instead gave more points to the essay that was due at the end so that boosted my grade a lot. If you just do your essays on time and go to section, you will do fine in the class. It is reading heavy, but I never really read and still passed.

PROFESSOR DOYLE IS AN ANGEL!!!! She's genuinely passionate about the subject matter she teaches and she cares! The class of hers I took was really fun and the readings were interesting so they were easy to read and get the general jist of. It was literally one of my favorite classes at UCR.

Lots of reading, but it is an English class. Only had to buy two of the books, cheap, gave rest to us online. Participation worth most, 25%, which is just talking during each discussion. Actually enjoyed going to lectures, very interesting, & she is so passionate! Great professor, if you pay attention and do the reading you will pass.

Professor Doyle is Amazing! She truly loves her job and cares about her students. Yes there is plenty of reading but its an English class what can you expect. Do the reading and show up to lecture and you will pass. She's very open to new ideas for essays and very linient. So nice that she cancelled our Final! We even saw a couple of movies! :)

Honestly, this class was super easy and Professor Doyle was really nice and generous and we even got our final cancelled! She's a little scatter brained with her lectures and goes from topic to topic really quickly so it gets confusing, but I really enjoyed the lectures. Lots of reading so I recommend going to lecture! Participation is also a must!

LOT'S OF READING! She tries to make it go quickly, so it's hard to keep up with it. Syllabus is not related to class, no clear understanding of what she wants out of assignments. She is very nice, and will try to make things more understanding, but you have to go to office hours for help if you really need it.

Though I have not finished the quarter, I have loved Professor Doyle since day one. She is very upbeat, quirky, and just so hard not to love. She really loves literature and you can tell by how passionate she gets during lecture when we are discussing the reading which is what I think a lot of professors lack, but that is why she stands out.

Dr. Doyle is the best thing that could have happened to UCR. If you invest the time in her class you will walk away a better academic and person. She is inspirational. I would take her class every quarter if I could.

Professor Doyle clearly loves what she teaches, and her enthusiasm was infectious. I loved having her as a professor and genuinely enjoyed most of the readings and assignments. Her teaching methods aren't your typical PowerPoint and lecture, but they were interesting and they worked. Would definitely recommend taking one of her classes.

Professor Doyle is really enthusiastic about the topics she discusses in class. Make sure you do the readings or else you would be very bored and fall asleep. She gives very good feedback on your essays (total of 3) and she encourages creativity in writing.

Professor Doyle was great personality wise. However, this class was not the best. At times, it was hard to follow the material and keep up in class. Despite this, she was accommodating to students who needed feedback on written work and created many forums for students to discuss the material. This class was mostly about gender rather than sports.

She doesn't really teach, she mostly spent lecture having conversations with her TA while the class just listened. I wouldn't really recommend her, not a lot of work, just a lot of reading, she doesn't give a lot of chances to earn participation points, 3 papers, and just a final that was more like a quiz

Engaging lectures, good at getting back to you. It was a Sports Lit class. As for textbooks, I didn't buy anything, she posted some online, then I got rest from county library free :) 3 short essays (300, 600, and 1000 words), easy final if you did readings, maybe 5 quizzes in class. She was open to creativity and encouraging! Take this class!

Recommended! Excellent educator, super brilliant and always communicative and helpful with students. Two short papers and one large group research project. Participation 25%. In short: If you like stimulating conversation and are OK with research, this class could be for you. Note: Read course description! Subject-matter may not be for everyone.

Doyle seemed to be more interested in art galleries than class. She would often cancelend class early to attend to other priorities and was not conventional in her teaching. Our assignment was a group research project and the lectures were unstructured (not at all corresponding to our research). The textbooks were expensive and irrelevant.

Very jarring class, but if you're at all interested in the relevance of critical theory take 20C with Doyle. She is probably the best lecturer at UCR, so even if you disagree with her politics, showing up is still a great pleasure.

Honestly if your an English Major you will either love or hate her. She doesn't stick to the canon at all and most of the works deal with similar themes of racial and gender equality. Also has a very specific focus on LGBT works and not much else. If you enjoy these subjects shes the professor for you if not then you can do well as its an easy class

Be prepared for a history lesson. She is an Okay professor but would do a better Job in the History Department, or even Philosophy. Yet you should attend lecture, but if you don't you'll be fine. The midterm was super easy, you don't have to answer all of the questions to get an A. Pay attention You'll be fine.
