Comment:
Professor Springer allows the students to express opinion and give feedback. She introduced new literature which may be considered controversial but is most diversified and engaging. Her style is one that promotes participation and brings the world of literature into the modern era. Her material selections are relevant.

Great professor, knows how to teach literature and keep her students interested. I love classes that are based on discussion of the material, it makes for better learning! The class is not difficult; just show up, participate, and put effort into your short responses.

Grading policy was kind of confusing! Didn't give direct indications as to why you missed points. I think that she knows the material. The way of learning it was just different. She doesn't use the on-course grade book which is frustrating! Thought it was too hard of a class for a 100 level. She shouldn't grade that hard! Otherwise, good professor

Comment:
Springer was less than satisfactory during summer session. She brought her kids to class two separate times. She never provided study guides even when asked by the class. Her grading was all over the place, hard to determine why you missed points. I feel that she didn't teach the WOST class effectively, and barely knew the material herself.

Dr Springer is amazing. She's clear, thought-provoking, and helpful. I truly enjoyed this course (Women and Lit) as well as her Intro to Women's Studies. She is the kind of prof I hope to be.

Comment:
Dr. Springer is clearly passionate about her subject. She expects students to participate in discussions based on the reading, but is not as strict with her attendance/participation grading as she says she will be at the start of the course. Flexible and fair-minded, but not a pushover. Two essay exams, short responses, and a presentation required.

Dr. Thorington-Springer is a fresh-minded instructor with an obvious interest in her area of expertise. She initiates interesting class discussions that never hesitate to graze social boundaries as they are presented in the text. She is not afraid to cover spicy literary material. Excellent teacher and very personable.

A sweetheart. Tells funny stories. Class is REALLY easy, sometimes painfully so, but tests do have quite a bit of writing. Encourages/welcomes every student to participate in discussion.

Jennifer was great. She didn't expect anything more out of you than what she knew you were capable of. As long as you do the work and participate, things should be a breeze. She, also, is very nice and has lots of interesting stories to tell :)

I really liked this prof. She chose a good variety of lit. to read and genuinely wanted her students to benefit from the class. There is a lot of writing, but it's not impossible or unreasonable. If you do the reading (which is interesting), you'll be fine.
