Comment:

I did not learn a thing in the entire class. Sat in the front row all semester only to have him mumble and attempt to explain different ecological articles rather than material. In addition, he did not appear to care about the course,BIO 260, AT ALL. We only had class half the time and the tests were ridiculous.

I absolutely loved Dr. Drake and his class. I thought it would be pretty boring but fairly easy, however it turned out to not only be easy but very interesting. I suggest trying to sit up close in class because he speaks rather softly but he does explain things well and has lots of good stories. I hope to get in his lab next semester. Favorite!

I thought this class was going to be a joke, but it turned out to be really interesting. Dr. Drake is a genius and will help you on get the grade that you want in the class. Take the time to meet him, it will definitely pay off in the end.

Comment:

Dr. Drake could be one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The man is awesome and is a dying breed of professors. He doesn't want you to just memorize facts. He wants you to think, to hypothesize, and to be a scientist. Go to class, do the readings, and get to know him. It's worth it.

This guy refused to use a microphone so it was everyone was jumbled up towards the front of the class. It's impossible to find him outside of class. If you take goods notes it's easy, but it's a really boring class unless you're an EEB major who eats this stuff up.

I loved Dr. Drake's class. If you are a person who can apply what you have learned instead of having to regurgitate memorized material, you will do well. He encourages students to think creatively. He does not use a textbook but assigns articles that may be difficult for non-science or beginning science majors to follow, but that are fascinating.

Good teacher, teaches with real world examples rather than the textbook. No textbook, which saves $. Listen closely, take detailed notes and attend every lecture and you'll do fine on the exams. Lab is tough but manageable. If you want to learn real world ecology rather than boring text book stuff, take him!He's a genius too.

Seems like he changed a lot from the 20ll class. He grades hard, asks amazingly hard questions. You don't use a book, you have to listen to him without a mic. No Presentations. You will only have what you hear from him. Not for non-EEB majors.

professor drake is a great guy and i feel bad writing this, but he's not a great teacher. He refuses to use a microphone so no one can hear him and he's all over the place so you have no idea what will be on exams.no study guides or book so who knows what will be on the exam and they're graded very hard. COMPLETE waste of time. take someone else.

Prior to this class, I was very excited because I had heard that he was a genius. However, he is so intelligent that he isn't able to transform the material in his head into something that students without a doctorate can understand. Attendance is not required, and is really not needed, you won't understand what is on the tests anyway.

If I were a freshman I would have liked this class...we literally did nothing and I can think of only a handful of things I learned. No syllabus, no notes, no blackboard, no book, almost no tests, doesn't answer emails or tell you if class is canceled. All in all he seems like a nice guy but I feel ripped off that I paid for this class.

Dr. Drake is one of the coolest professors at UT. Even though his class is pretty easy, you learn a lot if you just attend class and listen to his lectures. He's a very nice guy too- would talk to you during office hours, sometimes on cool tangents that weren't even covered in the class. Labs were pretty cool too. Take this class!

I LOVE this man! Best teacher out of the entire faculty @ UT - hands down. He tells amazing stories, never bores you with pointless crap, take home/make it up yourself tests w/ optional final, and ends class when he's actually done with whatever he's teaching. He's a smart guy and really enjoys his job. You'd be stupid not to take him.

It was a very interesting class. Every time I went to class I felt like I was in a National Geographic or Discovery Channel show. As far as tests go, there were two and an optional final. Ya, he was a bit easy, but maybe to a fault. There were lectures when he didn't bother to show up! I am not so sure that he took this class that seriously. I did not miss a class and did not learn anything more than what I had already knew. It was an easy A but he was not much of a teacher no matter what the others rate him.
