Jim is a seasoned vet, with many years of experience under his belt. He is an awesome teacher, and honestly he is an acquired taste, it takes some time to get used to but once you do, he is amazing!

He tries to use the book at the beginning of the year but it slowly tapers off. His lectures are interesting but some days we did stuff that didn't have anything to do with giving speeches. At the end of the year we had to rush to complete our speeches and some did not have time to redo them which he promised we would. If you do the speech you pass

I thought Jim was a great professor. I learned so much from both his classes without thinking too hard about it. Not for the squeamish or meek minded. He knows his stuff, and makes it easy to understand it in applicable ways. If you're by the book, expect evaluations and structure, go somewhere else.

Hands down worst professor I have ever had. Tries to be funny by using shock humor, and favors athletes in class. Explanations of concepts were vague, as were homework assignments, although they are graded as if instructions were specific. Grade progress was not posted anywhere online for student review throughout the semester. Not recommended.

I took both 1500 and 3550 from him this semester and the classes were extremely easy. He does quizzes randomly to make sure people show up and actually gives you the exam the day before so you can find the answers for it. The last two weeks of the semester he canceled classes. Easy, sometimes confusing and funny guy.

He is so sassy/hilarious. I enjoyed this class and his ramblings - showed good material and the textbooks/readings/lectures taught me quite a bit about visual comm. Not super hard - do the readings and go to class.

Fisher's class was extremely easy. I probably wouldn't have showed up for most of the semester if he didn't do frequent quizzes. He rambles on and on and the whole class almost seems like one huge tangent. I always did work for other classes during this class so I didn't feel completely unproductive. Funny guy, kind of strange, but easy class.

I love Jim, but not for this class. Expectations from either him or the department at large are nonexistent, so it's a lot of guesswork, and his grading was harsh considering the class's subjective nature. Also, be aware that there's a good chance that his personal rapport with you will figure into your final grade, so make a good impression.

He's hilarious. He makes a boring topic interesting and is always there to help. Avoid his class if you're easily offended, but he means no harm. Learning is fun with him and he really knows his material. Go to class! there's a quiz on every class. Don't mess with scrapbooks, your grade depends largely on them and tests.

He's hilarious. He'll grab your attention from day one because he's funny. His class is pretty easy, I'm sure most people are going to get A-s or As, but you still have to do some work. He's good. If you need Comm 1500 Fisher is great.
