Not a fair teacher. Will mark you wrong for simple omissions that he doesn't mark off for other students. If he doesn't like you he will try to ruin your grade. No grade leniency, and just not a very smart guy. Also uses the book for hw even though the test questions will look nothing like that. Especially bad for actuarial students.

A good teacher and expects you know the material very well. Doesn't really know how to answer questions without telling you to do it. Go to class and do the homework.

Very good at explaining the material. He sometimes makes simple mistakes, but he likes it if you correct him. My class finished everything two weeks early, so he goes at a fast pace. If you pay attention in class and do the homework, there is no reason not to get an A or B.

Gamage is a good teacher, he cares about his students and is fun to learn from. Only negative is his pace; it is not very consistent. You might rush through one chapter and tip toe through the next. Keep up with the work and you will do fine.

Great guy. He will always help you if you do not understand something. The material is a little tough, but his tests go by a square root curve which is nice. (Sqrt(Score))x10=new grade.

Very strict about the way your homework problems need to be done, but he does a very good job explaining everything from computation to the theoretical backbone of the course. Personally I didn't have a problem with his teaching style, and he taught it the best he could. I would recommend him.

Jina was an awesome teacher. He went at about the perfect pace, challenging me and not tolerating mistakes. And he was HILARIOUS. When I asked him why we had to know the definition of a sample set, he replied "Hey, if I don't know the definition of this piece of chalk, I might eat it!" Thanks to Dr. Gamage, I scored a "9" on actuarial exam P/1!

The material was hard, and he definitely expected you to have it down for the tests. I liked his teaching style though. He always showed us where everything was derived from and explained any questions we had. If you go to class and do the homework, you'll be fine.

This guy was possibly the worst prof I've ever had - and since I'm a grad student, I think that's saying something. He skips steps when working through examples; gives long, pointless 'explanations'; and openly berates students in class if they ask questions. Run away! Take the class from Akman instead if you can!

I did the same mistake like the previous guy.I was too confident I guess. But, fellow students,MARK MY WORD.YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND MOST LIKELY THE SEMESTER(COZ THIS CLASS WILL AFFECT OTHERS), IF YOU EVER TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DR.GAMAGE.IF ANYONE HAS RATED HIM POSITIVE, THEN HE MIGHT BE THE TA FOR THIS PROF OR MAY BE THE PROF HIMSELF.

I read all comments and still thought I could do it(strong calc background made me brave but alas).Lectures were too disorganized.Explanations were hard to understand.arguments were not very coherent.Problems chosen for class didn't clealy demonstrate the theory.Pacing of the lectures was fast.Dont recommend him at all.Dropped to save my grades.

I had him for 350, 351, 450, 453, 455, and 458. I got an A in all of his classes. I went to all of the classes, did all of the homework, and asked questions outside of class. If you do those things, you should be fine. Great instructor!

Quite possibly the worst teacher at ISU. Very nice man but does not know how to teach. Tests are impossible unless he takes questions from old test. Avoid him at all costs - this class will single handedly ruin your smester, promise.

He has good intentions and he is a very smart man except he isn't a very good teacher. He will help you whenever you need it except his explanations are confusing. He goes on for a 1/2 hour non stop w/o taking questions and expects you to comprehend everything. Do the even problems in the book because some of them are on the tests.

People tend to be hard on Jina. His class is work yes, and his lectures can be confusing, but if you have questions he'll answer them and is very willing to help and negotiate. Use old tests to study, make it known to him that you CARE about the class, and he'll help you do well.

Terrible teacher. Drop immediately. First off we went through 8 chapters, you normally only go through 6, and went through chapter 4/5 in a week and a half. Then 3/4 of the class, that have not already stopped coming to class flunk a test, and he blames the students! He yells at you if you dont remember every detail of calculus! HES NUTS

He is very partial grader. I do not think he atleast reads what you wrote in the homework. If you make a good impression in first couple homeworks and classes you will be fine, but if some how with your personal life and problems, you miss the classes or homework, you are dead. Don't even try to convince him, he will shout at you no matter what.
