I found Dr Hermsen to be a very caring person, who took a lot of interest in each student. Research Methods is a dry topic, but I enjoyed the heavy use of group work in this class

Loved this discussion heavy class. She really wanted to hear a class of 200+'s opinions which I found really neat. Had good lecture material. The tests are SUPER easy even if you don't go to class very much. The only bad thing is she doesn't use a mic but instead yells to speak which is fine but if you sit too close it can become too loud.

Dr. Hermsen is a very intelligent and kind person. She goes out of her way to help her students. She expects you to show up to class and attendance is factored into your grade. There were no textbooks or tests in this course, we were graded on evaluating articles and the research we conducted, most of which is done as part of a group.

Classes are terribly boring and I felt like I didn't learn anything from her. I learned everything in lab because her TAs were awesome. You HAVE to go to class (I missed 4 days and got 58% on attendance). She comes off as unapproachable and if you want to do a project she doesn't like, she won't help you. Just stick with your TA and you'll do fine.

The class was alright, it's a boring class no matter who you take it with. Instructions on assignments were sometimes vague, yet grading was very nit-picky. I appreciated the fact that we weren't tested over various research methods and that we were actually graded on the research we conducted.

Easy class. Show up and there's random extra credit. Quizzes are easy. I skimmed the readings while taking the quiz and used google and got As on most quizzes. Class is straightforward. Not my favorite subject but it's easy. She's redoing the class so nex fall or spring it's going to be different.

She is really nice. The class is pretty straight forward. If you do the quizzes and extra credit and study for the exam a bit you'll pass. Classes are interesting but not mandatory.

You do not have to go to class. Quizzes are based off of readings and are taken at home and there are only two tests: midtem & final. A lot of extra credit. Very nice lady. Posts all the class notes on Blackboard. If you're looking for an easy class I would recommend this. No one went to class and still ends up passing

Not difficult, but incredibly boring and uninformed. Repeatedly referred to a yarmulke as a yar-mook-ul. Every time we discussed poverty, she used African Americans as examples. The books she selected for the class were dry and uninteresting. Unless her class is required, I'd recommend avoiding it.

This class was not very interesting. Exams are hard. Read THOROUGHLY. She gives out a TON of extra credit, which is one of the only reasons I attended class. If she notices low attendance on a particular day, then she will give out 3 points extra credit to everyone who came that day. She's awesome, except exams are impossible.

I had Dr. Hermsen for an advisor and as a teacher. She is great! She is very smart and a superb teacher. Her classes aren't that hard as long as you put in at least a little effort. I definitely reccomend her!

I thought this class was amazing and I loved it. It's not hard and you can get a lot of extra credit. Some of the readings are annoying and take up a lot of time. There is no real textbook, so the bulk of information is given in lecture. The review sessions are very helpful too. I really liked the class and I really recommend it!

Easy class. Like other raters, I didn't go to class 2/3 of the time, but between doing the light homework and going to the reviews, I did fine. Class is interesting and informative, if a bit depressing.

B-O-R-I-N-G. I stopped going to the class and still easily got a B+. Her online discussion assignments are easy to BS, as are the papers. As far as the tests, just go to the reviews and you'll be fine. I admit I slakced off majorly in here, but I EASILY got a B+... so why not?

An easy class to conquer- she spells out what's going to be on the test during review sessions, and if you actually try to do well on the reading responses, you'll be fine. The final turns out to be optional, and the two papers are very easy to write. She is a fun lecturer, and I liked material alot
