Java is hard. I had trouble reading his code on the board. I had to use the Academic learning center a lot for this class

Professor Dzuback seemed challenging at first since his understanding of computers programming is extraordinary. He explains things in-depth but, he does give everyone the opportunity to do well in his class. Terminology and understanding of java is a must on exams. Zybooks labs, in class labs, and post labs due every week.

Dzuback is a great professor his lectures are very heavy on the inner works of the programming language you're learning, he knows his stuff. His lectures can be considered dry by some and his personality matches his lecture style but I found it great. Gives a lots of weekly Labs. His test are lengthy, always includes hard copy program analysis.

He is a very technical, but he structures his assignments in a way that makes you understand the material. I didn't have any issues in his classes. I took him again this spring. He's a very good teacher

Professor Dzuback is a very intelligent man, there's no denying that. However what he obtains in knowledge he lacks in approachability. He is not a welcoming person at all. If you don't understand programming, the class can get extremely confusing. If you are not a computer person, I highly suggest that you do NOT take this professor.

Excellent, had Alice for csc 100. This class gets you actually programming and he is a better teacher than Wrice IMO. That being said the class gets you actually coding and you have to practice and apply yourself if you want to do well. do the labs and pay attention to lectures, you will be fine. The textbook definitely helps when you are stuck.

Professor Dzuback is super nice and funny. He makes the class fun and easy. I took him just to know more about computer science. His tests are pretty simple and straight to the point. I do recommend going to the ALC for homework and projects if you're not too familiar with java. But overall, his class is doable and I would take it again.

Not a bad professor at all. He usually explains what he wants from you at the very beginning. He lets you do your work in class and if you need help he is there. Most of the time your just doing your assignments while he sits in there.

I took dzuback classes in 2003. Luckily for me I had a programming background back in high school, so I can understand him better. But sorry for guys that are completely illiterate when it comes to computer science. you will likely drop, or pass the class hating this guy with odd sense of humor.

Took him for CSC 101. In UCC a hundred level course is not suppose to be hard but Dzuback makes this way too hard. The only was to pass this class is if you have computer science knowledge. If you a beginner, do not take him because you will regret it. Worst class and teacher ever. The exams makes no sense, even if you read his power points.

Professor Dzuback was the department head & instructor of many of the courses I had at UCC. I found his instruction excellent, his sense of humor sometimes odd and a great guy. Using my degree from UMUC and my knowledge I am in my 27th year of a very successful IT career now in Security and serving the military. Joe Dzuback ROCKS! Thank You JD !!

If you have a background on programming then Prof. Dzuback is great for you but if you are a beginner, I suggest you to avoid his class. You will not understand him because he uses computer languages. Labs is extremely difficult and you suppose to have a partner but you will be on your own all the time. He is very smart if you want a challenge.

He kind of just sits there and let's you do your work, CIS 100 isn't hard at all you just have to follow instructions from the books. But if you have any questions you can ask him.

Only take his class if you are a Computer Science major. He will teach you if you are willing to learn, but don't expect an easy grade. He makes you earn it. He also speaks using proper terms and doesn't like to dumb down material. Read the textbook before getting to class.

Very good prof he knows how to explain the material very well. Do the review sheets and ull be set for the tests. Lab is hard ur on your own, but just read the book. He is very helpful and a nice guy overall. I even though about changing my major to computer engineering, but programming just isnt my thing. Got an A in the class.

I had him for Operating Systems. I have to say his class was not the greatest, He spent the entire semester reading powerpoints, with no kind of class activity nor computer time. His tests were pretty hard, no multiple choice, just questions u had to answer on your own, he asks for questions but makes you feel like you asked a stupid one.
