He is a good teacher who gets the class involved, Do not expect to take this class and sit in the back and do nothing, He calls on people everyday and if you are not paying attention it will show. Homework is all online, Only complaint I have is that he can come off as a bit condescending if you ask a question.

Comment:
Makes sure every student is participating and sounding out the language, even if they constantly get some sounds wrong and never learn, always corrects. Lived in Germany, very knowledgeable about the culture and people. Tests are so-so, HW is online. No quizzes per se. Doesnt discipline noisy/talkative students when others are trying to learn.

Took German 120 and 121 with him. Great instructor. Due dates were mostly firm, but a little wiggle was allowed on attendance (which saved me, given work-required travel .) Speaks well, and is genuinely interested in both the language and the culture. Takes extra time to help anyone who needs and asks for it. No language is easy, but he tries.

Took both 120 and 121. He is a careful teacher who thinks about how he wants to present lessons. Yes, you have to pay attention and do the homework, but the classtime is interactive. I would take him again.

herr mersch is a good german teacher however he can get very boring at times. sometimes i find it hard to stay awake which naturally affects my learning in the class. i wish he would'nt be so monotonous.
