Dr. Bell has terrible notes, regularly uses other professor's notes, which he seems not to understand, and finishes nunerous sections of his lectures by saying, "And that's pretty easy, so I'll let you look it up in the textbook." STAY AWAY!

taking this course with him is a waste of time. You'll have to review a lot of 207 material if you're going to take genet 270

Dr. Bell is a fairly run of the mill prof regarding his style and effectiveness. Despite being very knowledgable in his field, students give him a bad rap. Usually the worst ratings on here are from students who did poorly...but no matter who the prof is all you need to do read the text and beat 86% of the other confused people for your A.

Um ... not the best prof I've ever had, but not the worst. If you HAVE to take the course from him (like me) just make sure you annotate his diagrams and ask him to clarify when you need it. And for God's sake, print his notes off! I think my hand is crippled from trying to write all his notes.

I've said this before but Bell truly is the worst prof I've ever had. His notes are terrible so you basically have to teach the course to yourself. I now have to read the other profs notes since Bells notes are so worthless. Avoid this prof. If you have to take the course later to avoid having him as the prof, do it. I used to like bio....

All exam questions are copied from past papers. I once sent one email to ask about this, he replied "if some guy has done all the past paper, he deserves an A." Then I asked, why not put all the past paper on the website, so we can choose either your class or doing past paper. Then no more answers from him. Worst teacher even seen!

My friend and I took a count of how many times he used the word "deleterious" over the course of the term... ridiculous! The man needs to use a thesaurus. His assignments are riddled with errors. I found the TAs in the course a much better source of information than Dr. Bell could ever be.

If you are in genetics, he is one of the better profs out there. As others have said, he is lazy so make sure you do any old old exam you can get your hands on and you'll do fine. I found he was better for 304 than for 275.

I like the comment about "poor genetics students". Some of the other profs make Dr. Bell look great! he he. Still, he's not bad. Actually, his exams are fair, he covers the basics, and if you attend class and read the text, you're guaranteed to do well.

STAY AWAY!!! RUN FOR YOR LIFE!!!If this class is not required (poor genetics students!) drop this time bomb!! Bell ran through concepts, hardly explaning a thing (reading directly from the overheads does not qualify as teaching).

Lazy. He's used the same notes/transparencies/assignments/exams for the last 12 years. If you have the fortunate chance of knowing people who've taken the course and get their stuff. You'll ace it! Otherwise he's all over the place with hard questions.
