He does not cover the material clearly at all. He is very forgetful and misgraded my tests. If you do not read the book you will not pass. It is up to you to learn the material because he does not teach it well.

Comment:
Easily confused by students and himself. Spends 15 minutes teaching a concept then realizes he made errors and starts over. More interested in talking about politics. If you want a change, go to the Director of Economics. I strongly feel he needs to be medically and professionally evaluated. POORLY written test, and unsatisfactory teaching techs.

John is a very intelligent professor, but, his teaching methods are antiquated. He has a required book that was not used at all. His penmanship is horrible, and his explanations are muddy. He stumbles through problems and doesn't effectively make his point. Exams are hard without any idea of what you'll be tested on. Definite GPA dropper. Low curve

I believe Dr. Blair is probably very smart, but cannot effectively teach the subject to the average person. He becomes confused when teaching a concept, and will change his mind halfway through, leaving the whole class flabbergasted. His tests are even worse. It is very hard to understand the wording and some of the problems are not very clear.

Took his class over the summer as well. He is not clear or helpful. Tells you one thing and then gets confused, changes what he said previously. He is not clear about 2 tests. Pretty much wasted my time. My GPA dropped bc of it. AVOID!

Took this class during summer semester so it was very fast-paced. Otherwise the class was very easy, John does take a day to review before an exam and is pretty clear on what he expects. Best advice is to attend class, HE DOES NOTICE, take good in-class notes and use the textbook to clarify in-class notes.

He's a very genuine guy and wants his students to succeed. Nevertheless, he's a bit unclear and confusing -- even to himself -- sometimes. Makes a lot of mistakes in class. But he repeats the important things over and over and his tests are easy. He makes the material relevant and engages the students as much as they want. Be sure to go to class.

AVOID at all cost if you wanted your grades to stay up. He's unclear, outdated, and distracted. His tests are awful even if you study! He changes his mind about what he is talking about and would find a way how not to help you.

You have to have taken other economic professors at W.S.U. to realize this. Econ is not an easy subject. He is the simplest good grade you are going to get in economics. I wish he taught more Econ classes. Take it from an Economics Major.

Brilliant professor who has a bit of trouble getting his point across sometimes. Explains those things better next class. Teaches socratically, calling on people for participation (which is part of grade). Very nice, willing to help any student. Tests are kind of hard, but he throws out questions that are bad. Overall good class, easy A/B.

He is a smart guy who has trouble expressing what he wants to say to other students. he is willing to go out of his way for a student only if you ask him. i would recommend him if you want a good teacher that will challenge you. sometimes tests can be hard if you don't know the material as well as you should

Go to class and take notes. You don't NEED to read the chapters, but I would recommend it. Attendance and participation in class are 10% of the grade. His tests can be tricky sometimes, but in my opinion he's a good professor.
