Hodgen is by far the best professor I have had on this campus. He pours his heart into his classes and has the upmost respect for his students and their stories. I felt that I needed to work harder every paper because I did not want to disappoint him. He's amazing and if you are honest and work hard on the papers it will pay off!

Hodgen is an amazing professor. Took him as an intro class and passed with an easy A. Cares more about the students and their stories, than specific grammar mistakes. Class flies by and he is always there for help if you need it. Great man and understands that we are college students who make mistakes.

He is by far and wide the best professor on campus. you will never come across another man you pours his heart and soul into a class like john hodgen will. there is no other option but to take one of his courses before your time is through at assumption. makes literature burst with passion, love, lament, and every emotion in between. amazing.

I don’t understand how you could not love this man. I am not a fan of writing, but he has makes me push myself to write better for both me and because I don’t want to disappoint him. He is extremely inspiring. You would be missing out if you didn’t take a class with him while you’re at Assumption!

Professor Hodgen is one of the best professors I've had. His voice is so mysterious and poetic. He is not a hard teacher, just read what he tells you and talk a little in class, pretty sure you'll get an A. He is so respectful to all his students and tries to help you as much as he can. Take him!!

Professor Hodgen is the man. He has a very poetic voice (which sometimes put me to sleep) and is very calm. He's also very easy. He made me the writer who I am today and I will never forget him as a teacher. He pushes you to look at your papers in a totally different perspective. I strongly recommend taking him.

Wonderful class and wonderful professor! Professor Hodgen is definitely one of the best English professors at Assumption! We could listen to him talk all day. The writing assignments he gives are enjoyable and on top of that, he really respects each student and what he or she brings to the paper. Take him!

I've taken him once and I'm taking him again. On top of greatly improving my writing and really learning a lot, he's the nicest guy on top of that. Show him respect and he'll do the same. I've never been an exceptionally motivated student but I've never been bored in his class. Take this professor if you get the chance.

Hodgen is an amazing professor and everyone I know has loved him. Everything he says in class is so interesting. I have never been bored in his class. He has helped my writing improve significantly. It is a writing class so expect a paper at least every week and a half. But he is a very fair grader overall. Definitely take!!!

I love going to his class. Every M/W/F I look forward to seeing what we'll do next. He makes it sound like he's a tough teacher at the beginning of the year, but he's really not that bad. Anyone that speaks ill of this teacher is brain dead. Yes he uses his writings in his class, because they are AMAZING. This man made me want to write and became my advisor. This man inspired me to do what I do. He has seen so much and never shys away from a chance to share his experiences. A Hodgen class should be mandatory for graduation.

My all time FAVORITE professor at this school. He's one of the best people I've ever met. His class was so much fun! He really cared about me beyond what was happening in the classroom. I recommend him to anyone!
