John is awesome. He is a cultural theorist and he really knows what he is talking about. He breaks down the theory of cultures from pre-historical to modern and he does so in a way that his students actually understand. Discussions are not intense, rather there just so you feel comfortable asking questions. Great class, great professor.

Simply just a pleasure to have a course with. He is clear and available. I had him for Kahn and Venturi and you can tell that there is passion and curiosity in what he teaches. And he just makes you happy!

I only had him for lecture, not for section, but I enjoyed his lectures the most I think, because of his spirited delivery. He made me laugh several times, and not with any pandering to students type of humor, just his own humor. Lot's of little comments in his lectures that helped me understand and remember info more clearly.
