Walk a mile in this man's musical mind and shoes then listen with his heart and ears. Students in the past 15 years are the selfish and "me-me-me" inflated ego problem in schools--society has killed manners and truth by telling their children how wonderful, how creative, sensitive, brilliant and special they really are not.

Mr. McKinney is not a professor for the lazy nor the ridiculous. John ia thorough and talented teacher with a huge heart for any imaginable tinkering with the music of the air, the sun and stars, of the moon, a river or spring or waterfall, of the lunch song sung on a working farm , a squirrel being hunted by a fox, a buffalo by a native-imagine.

This professor has had his times in the past where he has neglected his role as teacher, but has turned over a new leaf. He is back to the good old McKinney who teaches, has fun, and is a mentor. Yes, he might not be able to play Keiko Abe now in his age, but he's a hell of a teacher. He's truly excellent in many facets of his teaching.

All he cares about is himself. He only plays the game and doesn't help or teach like he should. I'm glad I only wasted minimal time with this teacher. He sucks.

At first, he seemed interested in me and my education. As his position in the college elevated, I went to the back burner. The other classes he taught (the ones he decided to show up for) suffered also. His focus was on the department exclusively.

I was under this teacher for four years. At first he seemed to know all and want to help anyway he can.But in the end he is only in it for himself. And in truth he really needs to stop teaching percussion. He can't keep up with the students. weak player
