John is an awesome teacher, it's the course you have to watch out for. Yucky, yucky, yucky course, but having John as a teacher makes it somewhat bearable. Make sure you talk to him to clarify things... otherwise he changes his mind and your grade suffers.

Over the years with John, I have noticed that he clearly has a great knowledge about what he teaches. Although he says "like" and "aboot, aboot that" quite often, i find his offbeat sense of humour entertaining. Class times flies. He is helpful and gives insightful comments on papers. SOmetimes lecture can get dry but het no one is perfect.hahahot

John is by far the best professor I've ever had. He is so knowledgeable, and he has a good sense of humour, which makes his lectures really enjoyable. He is very helpful with assignments, and he is a pretty fair marker. I've taken 2 classes with him already, and will be taking another next semester. Take a class with him if you get the chance!

Seems like a nice guy, very upbeat and energetic while teaching, but I'm not sure if it's his way of explaining the structure of the english language, my general boredom with the subject, or the way he teaches in general but I had a hard time understanding what he taught. Oh, and watch out for his writing, it's truly hard to read!(chicken scratch)

John is very energetic and extremely intelligent. He takes a boring subject like the Structure of English, and really engages the class. While I think this course turns learning English into learning Math, I don't think I would been able to get through it with any other instructor. Thanks for making a complicated subject more bearable John!

John Moffatt is a spectacular instructor. He is overwhelmingly knowledgeable in linguistics and genuinely interested in the field as well. I never realized that I could enjoy things like morphemes, semantic shift and the weird things my tongue does when I speak until John taught me. You will not regret taking him for any class!

One of the best teachers I have ever had! He made class so fun and informative that it was my favourite class last semester. He is extremely nice and treats all students with respect. He really wants all students to succeed and is extremely knowledgeable about the course topics. Just ask him to recite some Chaucer...wow!

Mo-fatt is awesome. His personality is lively and makes class interesting. He rewards you for particpating and acting interested. He can be a somewhat tough marker but don't fret! - if you ask him for help he is EXTREMELY clear - responds to email very promptly - very cute "eeehhhhh" take him!!!!!!!
