I highly recommend taking this course with Dr. Ringland if you actually want to get something out of it in the end. Also, from my experience, if you ever have a question ask him. He will always try to make sure that you understand what is going on to the best of his ability. Great professor, wish I could have taken other courses with him.

This class could be very easy but he spends too much time explain concepts rather than doing problems. Test questions are also heavy on your understanding of the concept, so there's no guessing when it comes to that. A lot of homework due within less than 6 days each week. Lectures are boring. Not enough examples in class to help us understand.

Do not take him for 418 if you value your GPA. Granted he's an excellent professor, he makes you work like crazy for the class. Often times assuming that the student has a deep understanding of the content like he does.

Dr. Ringland was an extremely well organized and helpful professor. I thought he explained the topic very well and would always take the time in and outside of lecture to answer students questions. He gave out extra credit points for asking questions in lecture and had fair tests with cheat sheets. Definitely would take another class with him.

really good teacher, hard course to take in only 3 weeks but I did alright. He is really helpful when you ask questions and is great if you need extra time or attempts on a homework.

He is nice and very helpful. I took the winter session and I enjoy this class he taught. Only two exams during this three week session with HW due every day. He gives extra attempts to do the homework and extend the deadline sometimes. I don't think it is needed though. I will take his other classes if he has. He required textbook but it is useless

437 is a really tough subject, however everything in this class is taught well. Dr. Ringland is a very good professor and is always willing to help. Homework's are fair and the tests are about half homework half lecture material but you do get an equation card.

Smart, good teacher, tests are a little tough. Alecks is an A** hole, make sure you try hard on the initial assessment, although in the end alecks helps you review basic math. Gotta love his british accent.

He is no joke of a professor, he is very careful about everything he states when he teaches so the clarity is there. Everything is there, the outside of class communication is good and he is a professional. If you're taking any course he will make it like boot camp, lots of hard work and long hours in the library, but in the end it's worth it.

Dr. Ringland asks for a lot of effort in this class. It is also programming intensive but I'm a computer science major so it wasn't horrible. Even so I still learned a ton. He is very helpful and clear, and really cares about his students, despite being slightly awkward, in a way you are never quite sure how to verbalize.

I did not like this class at all. This will be the first time in my entire life that I don't get an A in math. He expects you to know stuff that he hasn't taught you and does problems like you aren't even there. He doesn't explain thoroughly and I more often than not have asked someone what he meant & no one else knows either. Avoid this class

Very helpful when you ask questions. Even handed out bonus points on tests for asking questions during lecture. Homework was fairly challenging, as were the tests. No trick questions, just a lot of stuff to know. Two group projects were appropriately challenging. Not an easy class but you do learn a lot. Highly recommended.

Wonderful math professor. He's a little bit awkward at first, but will do anything to help you out and is quite patient. Overall he's incredibly nice and a great teacher. For 337, the class wasn't easy, but if you start the projects early enough you'll easily get an A.

Extremely thorough, patient. Sometimes seems to be rushing through material, but he explains everything very clearly and always answers questions. Keeps class itself interesting with coding and other exercises. Actually, an interesting class, and puts more work into teaching than many other teachers I've had. Projects can be long and hard.

Really nice guy. He's really good at explaining the material in lecture. Weekly homeworks and labs aren't too hard, but the two projects were very difficult but kind of fun at the same time. The tests really aren't that hard if you do the homework and go to class. I highly recommend Dr. Ringland for any class!

Good teacher, lab is mandatory and includes programming which he usually gives an outline of how to do, homeworks are from the book, tests are based on homeworks and labs and you get a 5x8 note card for them. Not too hard to get a good grade if you put in the work.

If you do not have at least 1 year of programming experience in either Matlab or C++ DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He claims you don't need any prior programming experience and that is false. He will not help during office hours - the most help you'll get is him repeating what he said in class. He is also very demeaning if you do not understand the info.
