Probably my favorite professor I've had. As long as you take down the notes he writes for you, you'll have a super easy A. Grades on four easy tests, two essays, and easy weekly quizzes. He makes class fun and interesting as well and is super friendly. Overall great professor.

Timothy Boyd is a G. Lectures are clear and comprehensive with lots of participation and interesting props or artifacts. Tests were easy to understand with good review classes provided on the weekends before. Really a great professor

If you are not interested in old old old history don't take the class. The kids that do amazing are pretty much experts on warfare from the computer games they play during class. He likes what he does but that doesn't make a great professor, it has to fit well with how you learn. He is very old school but I wish I didn't take the class.

Very engaging professor and grading is very fair. Class is taught off the top of the Professor's head just by looking at visuals and he writes his notes, but the information is perfectly clear. Enjoyed this class.

Dr. Boyd is an old school professor; all work will be done on paper, and any online content is at the whims of his TA(s). Weekly quizzes exist mostly to enforce attendance, if you were there for the material you will pass them. Two short essays and 4 tests. Humorous and energetic lecture style with lots of imagery holds your attention well.

He is so freaking adorable. I love Boyd. In class he is just so passionate and excited about everything he teaches and he brings "artifacts" often to show to the class, even in our big Norton 112 lecture hall. And he is just hilarious. He randomly makes jokes that just crack me up. He's those type of professors that just make you smile.

Comment:
Timothy Boyd is very much overrated. Not to say he has no passion for teaching, but he let his immature TAs do almost 1/3 of the lectures. Occasionally would teach with his impossible handwriting, while still refuse to use powerpoint. Yes, he is amusing, but does being hilarious make him the best professor ever? No... I suppose an amazing professor

Great professor. His lectures are more like stories about history. He manages to make such a boring subject so interesting! Tests are pretty easy. 4 multiple choice/fill in the blank exams based on the lectures and 2 essays written in class. Show up to lecture and recitation, take notes, and read the book and you will do great in this course.

great professor, super funny and he makes his tests very fair... just make sure you go to lecture and take notes because there are no powerpoint or handout notes. Also make sure you know you know the terms on his review sheet for tests that he gives a week before and you'll do great on the exams.

Material in lecture explained clearly. Tests align closely with book and lecture material. Boyd really wants his students to succeed and also tells funny jokes. Assigned readings can be long though. He also has review sessions with review sheets and gives possible essay questions a week before the test for you to prepare. I highly recommend him.
