The readings were mostly interesting if you read them, which you didn't really need to half the time. The lectures and class in general were simply the best. If you want some stories to tell friends back home and make them jealous, Whittaker is the man to do it. Every class with him has been informative +adventurous: spear-throwing, gathering, etc)

Really boring for Intro. Lectured only and held discussions maybe five times. Tested easy and assigned unnecessary reading. Cool guy, though.

He loves his topic and will make you love it too. Learn to throw atlatls. Eat acorns. Lecture-based class. Fair tests. Hilarious professor. (He has some type of throat-clearing tic which can be slightly distracting.)

Fun class! Whittaker is awesome and will teach you all sorts of cool things like how to throw spears and fire/make pottery in addition to the class stuff. Long final paper and lots of reading, but worth it!

Sally and I (EM) love JW. We went to Arizona with him and he let us throw rocks at his butt. Class was always fun and we learned so much. Now we're both archaeology grad students. Yeah John!

really loves what he teaches. fairly easy grader. gives a ton of reading that i guarantee no one in the class read, which turned discussions into lectures. I liked the labs, he's very helpfull in identifying artifacts.

I don't know how he is as an Anthro professor, but as a Tutorial professor, he is not good. Contrary to his own beliefs, he is not a good writer, and does not know how to teach a class that is supposed to strengthen your reading and writing skills.

John's a great teacher. If you can get past occasionally over-the-top denunciations of what he refers to as crack-pottery , you'll learn a lot from him.
