Comment:

Zuern is extremely kind and passionate. He definitely made me appreciate books I had struggled with before. He makes sure you know what to expect on quizzes and tests and is open to adjustment if the class seems to be struggling. He had us do surprise reading responses, but didn't seem to be too harsh on the grading of them.

I took the summer school online class and it was very homework heavy. However, I absolutely loved the professor. Probably the most helpful understanding professor I've ever had. The work was hard but he was always working with me and helping me improve.

Zuern is great. There are a lot of terms and reading, 1 midterm 1 final. A few quizes. But you know what is on the exams/quizes. He makes the material seem like its so easy to learn but thats only because the way he explains it is very well. Very nice and helpful outside of class. I would take him again and recommend him to anyone!

Zuern is a pretty cool guy. His lectures can be a little boring at times, but he knows his stuff and is willing to help if you are confused. There are no surprises on his tests. Attendance and books are a must. I got an A with minimal studying. Just show up to class and take notes, and you will be fine.

He's alright. His class was alright. It can get boring at times. There has never been a day where I was awake the entire time. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great class. Professor Zuern is a great guy and a great teacher. He understands and tries to relate to his students and is always there to help. Though he may talk a little too much at times, he encourages you to speak up as well. His class is the perfect level of difficulty for serious students and you will learn a whole lot... GUARENTEED!

The best prof for eng 100. I took his class online and u send in papers online and write a blog post every week. He scheduled 2 mandatory appointments for us an they really helped to get a better grade on his essays. He grades fair and is understanding if u can't turn in an assignment on time.

I took an Ethics and Contemporary grad seminar from Dr. Zuern. Absolutely amazing class. The material was difficult, but Dr. Zuern guided us through the material will a level of acumen, sensitivity and insight that was truly inspiring. Dr. Zuern is truly committed to his students and his profession. Definitely the best instructor in the ENG dept.

Zuern is the best professor I have ever had!! He was so helpful and interesting. The class was demanding but everyone did really well. The readings were a little rough to get through but he told you exactly what was going to be on the tests so you know exactly what to study. Easy grader as long as you put thought into your work. Loved this class!

I had Dr. Zuern as a grad student and he essentially helped me reinvent my perspective on the discipline of English. Through him, I became more interested in and more passionate about English. Dr. Zuern is genuinely concerned about his students' welfare and he obviously loves what he does. Definitely one of the best professors I had at U.H.
