Comment:
Professor Dimock, is very intelligent. If students don't understand the material then that's his/her lack of effort. This course is hard but gets easier if you work with the professor and practice. This is a challenging course. Take it, study hard, learn something.

Comment:
Professor Dimock is one of the worst professors I've had at UB. He has a deep understanding of the material, but fails to effectively convey it to his students. He spends too much time on long proofs and not nearly enough on concepts. You'll have to read the textbook and beg classmates who've had analysis before for help in order to do well.

WORST PROFESSOR OF UB. NOT ONLY IN THE MATH DEPARTMENT, BUT THE WHOLE UNIVERSITY. His teaching methods are the worst. I made the greatest mistake of my life by taking his course. AVOID HIM. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THIS SO CALLED "PROFESSOR", DROP YOU COURSE RIGHT NOW. I CAN ONLY WARN YOU. DON"T STEP INTO THIS HELL.

Comment:
Very detached from his students. Just blazes through proofs the whole class, and I couldn't even follow what he was doing. It didn't help that the class material (Stochastic Processes) was hard itself, and the book was confusing. Unfortunately, final is worth half of your grade. He never really seems happy.

Very smart guy but if your going to talk to him its like trying to talk to the president. Ain't going to happen. Your best bet is to go to the tudoring center to get help and they are more than willing to help. His notes are not bad if you cut out the proofs because half class probably doesn't understand the proof anyways. Don't take unless have to

Everything he says and does is precise and aimed toward maximum comprehension. Midterms are quite easy, and the final is doable, although it is a bit long (and worth half your grade). He doesn't collect homework, so you don't have to do it, but the tests are similar to homeworks. He is not to be trifled with.

Well, he speaks clear i guess. His tests are ridiculous sometimes especially when the final is worth half your grade. While the other two classes only covered through chapter 5, we covered chapter 6 and X...what the hell is chapter X. This guy is really old fashioned and is not a great lecturer, try someone else if you can.

Dr. Dimock makes a very difficult subject rather comprehensible. His grading scheme is not lenient, the final exam is worth 50% of the semester grade, but you do feel as though you learned something in the end.

Personaly, I think this is an easy course. I like the way he teaches. There's easy quiz every week and one exam. And that adds up to 100 percent of your grades. As long as you know how to do the example problems on the text, you're gurantee to get and perfect score on the quiz. It's an easy A.

Recites the horridly written textbook cover to cover. Writes the thereoms on the board, proves them, and expects you to divine the wizdom of probability that comes from them on your own. Spectacular job on an intro course...

without a doubt the worst proffesor i have ever had. He walks in a minute after class starts each day, recites some of the textbook, and does nothing to explain it, you could easily learn just as much by reading the text once through. If possible NEVER TAKE A DIMOCK CLASS.
