I have returned to finish my education and I am wanting to take more classes from him. Some lectures I remember are really deep and hard to get (Kant, Leibniz Sarte, etc. but amazingly by the end of the term, you realize you actually understand it. He hates scantrons unfortunately because I hate essay exams. EVERYONE LEARNS IN HIS CLASS!!

I took his class several years ago and hated how hard he was. Now that I look back, I really appreciate the fact that he pushed me. I just graduated from Univ. of Texas with my Masters and appreciate how he prepared me for more advanced classes. Northlake has an excellent Philosophy Faculty. Dr. Howie is excellent also.

Took this class a few years back and loved it. If you are serious about school you will love the class, if not, you'll have a difficult time. You get to watch clips from the Matrix for Platonism/Gladiator for Stoicism/ and Fight Club for Cynicism. Kept things modern and interesting. One of my favorite classes.

I personally did not learn much from Dr. Berrie. He tends to ramble on and is difficult to follow. We never had a single test and I never cracked a book and got an A. I don't think his lectures are prepared. I didn't learn much at all. However, he did peak my interest in the field.

Too difficult of a subject for an elective. Good way to screw up your GPA. Good Teaching but subject is too hard if you aren't into it.

First rate. I felt as if I was taking a course from a top tier professor. One big difference I have noticed between this class and my other classes was in the respect and high expectations he has for his students. It is one of the few classes I've taken so far inwhich I truly feel like I have improved my self and obtained something of great value.

There are more lessons to be learned than what is in the book. I got his lessons and I learned the curriculum as well. I enjoyed the class and feel his interest in the success of the students is genuine.

This instructor thinks that he is better than everyone else because of the prestigious schools that he attended. He doesn't care about the students and shows no interest in their development. After taking Dr. Howie's philosophy class I too, like the person below, encourage everyone I can to take Dr. Howie's philosophy or logic class. He's awesome

Ive taken 3 classes from Dr. Bearre. Ask any former student to verify his dedication to his students, his passion 4 teaching. I am one of several students who he has helped get a full scholarship to a top university. With one phone call he got me a full ride to SMU. I know of others who were accepted into Cornell, MIT & Rice because of Prof. Bearre

This class could be very difficult but this professor is able to capture your interest and attention. As for many of my international student peers who have found the American academic environment wanting, you will find this professor's style, aptitude & methods more in line with what one would find under a "British" or European educational system.
