Comment:
Really tough teacher who can't figure out how to format his teaching. His office hours are useless as he makes you feel less of yourself for not knowing stats 250. 90% of students fail exams, even the smart ones. Wish I had dropped this professor when I had the chance.

He's definitely educated well in Stats and is enthusiastic about teaching it. He's pretty tough on the grading. He is eager to help you but you must seek the help. You are gonna work hard in this class it is not a cake walk by any stretch. I did enjoy his class even though I struggled. He gives you a break if he sees you a trying hard.

Really depends on your learning style if you are willing to try and teac yourself and pay attention to how he lectures you will get it if you just try and understand all of the stats through lectures you willing be confused. Studying is key. It's a pretty even division of people who hate and love his teaching style.

Class averages on the midterms were abysmal and that wasn't due to students' lack of trying. He makes things extremely confusing when explaining and he spends his lectures talking about unimportant things. He does go out of his way so students can get as much help as possible but he's extremely condescending when you ask for help.

Detka is a great professor! He bends over backwards to make sure his students are getting the time they need to learn the material. He understands that the class is hard and makes a million opportunities available for students to get help. If you want to pass this class you certainly can. If you fail its probably because you didn't try.

Worst teacher. He is not helpful and is rude when you have questions. If you have never taken Stats before, DO NOT take STATS 250 first. Don't take a class with Detka.

Jon was awesome with teaching the concepts of how things works in the world. His class was inverted (students teaching students) and it was awesome learning from student and teacher. He is there to help you but he will leave you behind if your not willing to learn. I completely recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn basic physics.

Jon is insane. In a good way! He laughs at his own jokes, he has an incredible amount of energy, and sometimes he just needs to slow down. But I've had him for two classes now, and he will ALWAYS take the time to help you and talk with you about your difficulties, interests, and goals. WORK HARD, don't buy the book for STAT 250, and have fun!

Amazing!!! Brilliant!! If only we had physical science teachers like him at the high school level science would be a different experience! He however is not for slow paced learners. You definitely have to come to class fully alert and ready to learn deep concepts

I honestly hate science but he makes it somewhat bearable. He is very very helpful if you actually want to learn! He invites students to go to his office hours whenever they need help and always replies to emails.

He's all over the place and unclear. He needs to drink less coffee to be an effective teacher. He can often get frustrated if students are not keeping up with in class descriptions, and it is difficult to reach him during office hours. I would say if you can, take another stats class, or at the minimum get someone elses old tests, it could be rough

Jon was a great prof. I honestly wouldn't have understood one bit of physics if I had any other professor. He explained everything and made sure people did their own thinking, while challenging us to take the next step. Great class, great teacher.

A tad deranged. Laughs harder at his own jokes than anybody else around him and isn't always as clear as he can be. The material covered isn't easy, but if you take the time to show him that you're trying your best to understand it even when your tests and labs don't always reflect it, he will grade you fairly.

I learned a lot in this class but the workload is way too high for a 100 class. He is a good teacher but he will make you feel stupid, the TA alicia is helpful but shes definitely on a power trip. Take it but be prepared to do a lot of work outside and inside of class.
