DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. The grade were never clear. He always makes mistakes about grade. My friend and I were shocked when we saw our grade. My grade for all of my essay is A, BUT in the end i got C+.

I took his evening English 1A class at De Anza this quarter, and now I am regretting this decision. The professor's 'lectures' were difficult to understand and would at times trail off. He was so disorganized at time that he screwed up the syllabus and lost a few essays. The only saving grace was that I at least had a great group for the readings.

MUST TAKE!I took his class last Spr'13 and got an A+. I failed the first time I took it with another teacher but, I worked for it too. Imp't tips: U can re-write each essay 2-3x, each mtg, take notes of those Q & A's from the grp rdgs bec you have to submit 10 sets of 3 Q&A for finals and you can use them for this (12-15 pgs) and a research paper.

The best prof. at De Anza. He inspired us to be better writers allowing us to re-write all essays 2-3x for a better grade! He does not deduct points if you're late in submitting the essay. Just do your best. Easy 4 take home essays,Midterm & Final, in-class Group discussion Q&A,submit@end of qtr:10-12pg journal,research paper (after finals is ok)

I took his class, EWRT1A spring of 2013 and I got an A from his class. He lets you re-write your essays (2-3X!) until you get a better grade. Be sure to do the assigned essays and readings and talk to him after class if you are struggling and he will surely help you. He even allows us to submit our journals and research paper after the finals.

I Love this professor. His voice might be monotone but he is a great teacher overall, however you must do a lot of work. Make sure to do the work throughout the quarter and not wait till the end because it will ALL PILE UP! Lots oppurtunites for An A in the class . Class mostly consisted of discussions :)

Jon Ford was the best english teacher I've ever had. I enjoyed his class thoroughly. He might give not give you an easy A because he actually wants you to learn. The reading material is interesting and he is very funny. If you ask him questions about his youth and the people he grew up with you get very cool interesting answers. Smartest guy ever !

Ford is that guy who has a monotone voice that'll put you to sleep, but his class is easy and he is pretty helpful. The essays got annoying to write but there's a lot of opportunities to do well in his class (essays, classwork, midterms, quizzes, reflections) It was a lot of work and I admit I slacked off a bit but its easy to catch up and get an A

His class was very chill. He gives a lot of work but if you just follow what he says, it's easy to get a good grade. He's also very flexible on grading and allows you to rewrite everything once. The only bad thing is that he talks a lot during class. Class is basically all discussion about the reading. Good overall though.

He was a pretty good teacher. He's kind of boring - he has a monotone and will mumble and trail off. But other than that, it's an okay class. The HW consists of just essays, and keeping up with your journal, and he gives 3-4 in class quizzes. He's a pretty easy grader and will accept late work. Just show up and participate and you should be fine.

He is SOOOOOOO effing boring! seriously, he has the lamest, most monotone speaking voice and draws class out longer than it needs to be by reading every single word of every handout, like he doesn't think we know how to read and ask questions or something. That said, his class/work is fairly easy just do not procrastinate because it piles up fast!

The class isn't too difficult, but you need to follow his way of writing an essay. HORRIBLE at grade-keeping, he messed up two grades for my papers. He loves to listen to himself talk, so he rambles for a full 2 hours. You still have to go to class though, as he gives out quizzes (which are totally irrelevant). Not the best teacher.

I ran into a classmate the next quarter & the phrase we came up with was "soul-sucking". Nice prof, but he's checked out & does no classroom management. Our class was mob-ruled by a mentally disturbed girl & a bunch of guys who talked the entire period. He's a stickler on YOUR papers but his handouts are a MESS. Grading & structure are a mystery.

So this is the truth guys. He is NOT hard at all. He's a fairly easy grader. The trick is this:If you write a writing assignment,please put in lots of quotes and resources. he loves outside resource and believe me. LOTS OF WORK tho, seriously. Most work I've ever done in college life, but i look back now and no regrets. Extremely boring, i got a B.

His lectures are mostly inner-monologue stuff. The amount of work he assigns is a bit much, especially a rough draft of a rough draft for his research paper. Also lets disruptive students talk in the corner through class, can't control discussion to motivate others to speak and limit those who always talk but have nothing to add. Avoid this class.

He's pretty nice but honestly I would say that you should go for a different professor if (a) you can or (b) you really need to learn how to write. He's not too helpful in that department, but he grades fairly easy. If you have no other options available, his class is not bad. Just not the one i'd choose if I had to take it over, etc.
